How close durring flower?

I have 4 plants that have been in flower for about 2-3 weeks now. I'm using a 1000 watt HPS light and wondering how close I should let the plants get to the light? This plant is about 10 inches away right now. I'm growing in a shed so it's a bit cool out their, and I have a few fans so I don't think I have to worry about light burn. Any advice??

Just keep an eye on and see how it goes. Does it have a glass lens or is the bulb open? I have a measly 400W and I let them get within a couple of inches with no ill effects, even close to touching the glass lens at times, but not directly under the bulb. But 1000 is quite a bit more powerful.

There is a glass lens and I keep an eye on it everyday, I can put my hand on the glass and it doesn't get very warm so I wouldn't think being pretty close would effect it, exspecially with the fans and the temp I have it at

I mean I usually start to see some light burn or bleaching around a foot, if your plant can take it though I'd roll with it. When you have trichome just make sure they're not ambering super fast :-/.

Trichomes are the white hairs correct? And ambering is when they start turning brown/red?

No, Trichomes are the tiny resin glands that you need a magnifying glass to examine. They start out clear like water, then they turn milky white at their prime and then they turn amber when they are degrading.

...Sort of. That's an overview, but some plants get amber long before they are done and some seem to never get amber trichs, even when beyond their prime, and I don't think it necessarily means degradation but don't quote me on that bit, because I am not certain either way.
