About half of all NFL fans disapprove of NFL players protesting during the anthem. For the owners, they don't care about BLM, for them, Green Backs Matter. Why should the owners piss off half their fan base when the only thing they have to do is not have players protesting?

It comes down to the player's unions contract whether or not the owners have the power to change their policy. I agree that the owners should just stay out of it but most of those guys didn't buy a sports team to be silent partners.

This was inevitable when opinion polls came out so negative on the players' protests.

I don't know, millions over a very short career and all that. I wouldn't ask anybody to risk it but admire those who do.

I don't want to disagree with you about this. What I hope happens is enough owners push back and the whole Trump power play eventually blows over. It's nothing to me that players take a knee in protest about the issues behind black lives matter. I think they should have the right to do so. The first amendment doesn't apply to the workplace. It's up to the owners what rights their workers have concerning political speech in the workplace.
