Have you ever tried a sound generator? I picked up one at the local thrift store about 10 years ago for $5 and it helped so much when I went out of town on jobs where I would have trouble sleeping for the first few nights due to the different surroundings and noises that came with that. I makes storm sounds, trickling creek, (not so good for a guy with old fart's bladder issues.
), waves on the beach, rain forest etc.
The blue light generated by laptop screens, phones,TVs and CFL lighting is said to screw up the sleep cycle too so you might want to see if you can adjust your display setting to a lower K number. I recently bought my first smart phone and it automatically adjusts for light levels and has a setting for a more orange light scheme similar to what flowering plants like. Works really well in my newish opinion.
