Given what the rapid LED staff of straight offers for the do it yourself LED grow light Community I am sure companies like cobkits will soon offer 140mm pin fin heat sink options.
no plans to, i used to sell 140mm (still have some for cree), the 133s work just as well

Thanks guys! Sorry but I have to dig deeper into LEDs. So wich diodes do you suggest me to have for my needs? And wich color temperature do you seggest me to have for both veg and bloom? I took a look at CREE CXB3590 and CITIZEN CLU058 for an avarage wattage of about 1kW. Do you think it would do the work for a 4x8 or 5x5?
Thanks again guys.

You can also build a custom one out of aluminum angle for about 1/10th the cost Rapid sells it for and cut it to whatever size heatsink you order.
You're way over exaggerating there, it's about 1/4 the cost. Furthermore the rapid canopy substrate offers a flexible and adjustable platform that fits cobs, chilled boards and quantum boards in one easy professional rail system.

thats fine. you cant please everybody or cover every scenario. most of the cobs i sell fit rapid's heatsinks. if people feel that strongly about using their system they can either buy their heatsinks from rapid or simply use (2) 1mm washers to use my 133mm sinks.

can we stay on topic, please? thanks.

not sure what youre asking

any cobs can be suitable for any area you just need to use the proper number.

the two you picked are some of the least popular (behind clu048, cxm22 and vero)
I'm trying to understand wich COBs and how many would be ideal for my needs (considering the fact that I DON'T have a limited budget) . Since there's a lot of choice in your website, if you had my setup for example (a 5x5 or a 4x 8 ,wich COBs and how many of them would you put in there (no budget limit again).

id recommend the cxm22 for any size room. there is no better value in my opinion.

50-75 W/cob and ~35 W/SF is a good target. that puts cobs spaced in both directions at about 18"

not right now.

though i have to take a break for surgery in a few weeks and wont be able to lift anything heavy for a month (which puts me out of commission on my "real job"). im hoping to take that time to learn how to use my CNC and make some rail kits. if i can make 1 i can make 10000

I'm sorry to hear that! I hope though that you will master that CNC machine soon:mrgreen: Is not a thing of a day or two,I will need the fixure around February 2018 so if you implement the service of making complete fixtures by that time...well we have a deal going on for sure!

You are just saying that your heat sinks fit. They are much smaller than that and 2 1mm washers won't make them fit. The threading in the screw holes aren't even remotely the same.

Dude you should research before you go and make impulse purchases and then right bogus stuff. YOU choose to buy components from different manufacturers without researching sizes first. Cob kits is right. His heatsinks are 133mm and rapids are 135mm at the sides where they are flat so a difference of 2mm just like cobkits said. It only matters that the screw matches the heatsink. You can always drill a slightly larger hole in canopy rail if it's too small.

I've not seen anyone here using their frames...... And what so hard about screwing or riveting together some aluminum angle? Your plants don't care how fancy it is.. save some money, build your own.

Then you rule out everyone who uses rapid canopy from buying your cobs. It's a shame to limit your market like that.

Wow, if there ever was a time that I'd like a "dislike" response, it's here. You come into an advertiser's thread and proceed to complain about how he doesn't adhere to a competitor's line of products. Rude behavior, at the least. You're the first to reach my "ignore" button but you're insignificant, anyway. Along the line of those that come here and say "you're not selling as low as I want". You do sound like a "shill".

133mm + 1mm + 1mm = 135mm

not sure i get your angle, man

last time we had an issue i was getting blasted for not shipping a 7day leadtime item within 5 days. according to your posts from yesterday those cobs still arent lit up 5 weeks later. I wouldnt expect you to have it out for me after we spent nearly an hour on the phone with you and 'made good' in your own words, but maybe you do for whatever reason.

the use of 133mm heatsinks has been common around here for at least a year prior to rapid designing their frame to fit their particular heatsinks

what am i supposed to do? revise my whole inventory every time a competitor makes a new standard? thats just not realistic.

especially when it can be resolved with 1mm washers that cost pennies

luminus cxm22 at 1 cob per square foot on 133mm heatsinks.

that would be a super cadillac deluxe rig that would be in the $45/SF range (exclusive of frames) and threaten 2 grams/watt all day long.

HLG600-54B would cover about 20SF of canopy. if money is no object two of those would be the best even if youre not fully utilizing their capacity

That's what I want to hear8) .Only thing is that it's going way too up with wattage... if we consider 50w diodes @ 1 COB per square foot it would be approx 1600w. I think I will go like you said before with 35w per square foot.
Another thing that stresses me out:
Wich color temp do you suggest me to have for both veg and flowering? 3500 or 3000k? 80 or 90 CRI?
PS: HLG600-54B is the driver right?

youre pushing 85+W and might want to start thinking about active coolers

if youre running 2 jsut use an hlg-600-54b they are more efficient. i just got a dozen, not up on site yet
