Fluence Vypr vs Latest Cobs vs Latest EB series - Differences?

I been away from the LED scene for a while and noticed cobs and EB-type strips are doing very well, something I expected, but I also see people are still paying out fortunes for BML Spydr/Fluence Vypr LEDS - Why?

What is the actual efficiency differences between these fixtures?
I wouldn't have thought that Vypr have the facilities to produce better LEDs than some of the COB manufacturers, but correct me if im wrong?

What am I missing?

I think at that price point you can make an even more efficient system using something like the samsung strips. I think the main reason folks are buying instead of building is simply the time that is saved. Also the commercial places all over instagram using fluence likely get large discounts and supposedly work with fluence to design the vertical facilities. Probably easier to get permits etc with pre built system with safety features that might be lacking in diy. Having said that, i too agree we can build our own for considerably cheape.

You're missing Certifications. Those costs money.

I would hazard a guess and say over 95% of people on these threads don't need certified grow lights, they just need a safe light.
Till their house burns to ashes and they're trying to make a case for being covered with your insurance company ;)

Your insurance company is not going to file a claim based on cannabis. They usually work on a federal charter. That is probably the dumbest thing I have heard in a while.
File that insurance claim and expose yourself. Smart, even in "legal" states.

That's not what I said now is it. And that isn't an ILLEGAL crop is it? That's a change in context.

Prove us wrong, put in a call to your insurance and ask them to cover even your legal grow. They will tell you to go take a long walk off a short pier because of a liability and joining a conspiracy.
PS If OP decides to grow vegetables, disregard.......
@OneHitDone
I also edited my response, what good is it, if I only answer hyperbolicly? None. So I retracted most of the cursing but retain the argument.

Nobody cares [Legally] if you are growing tomatoes and you might even be covered by insurance if you do burn you house down with an IP66 rated fixture.... that is besides the dang point.

I think the recent fires in north cali will show how those "legal" farm insurance claims will go?, federal aid? not happening obviously.........I'm guessing crickets, could be wrong though

Boom.

One step further, the most likely scenario is this: barring Grey area muckery.....

Insurance company has legal department
Legal Department notices discrepancy from JusticeDepartment/IRS on claiming some kind of cannabis use
{Is there a single HID light that is advertised specifically or even generally for Cannabis? [my guess is NO]

Which ends up as Insurance company insures cannabis grow and withholds illegal taxes from IRS because of the 2xx clause which is creating a 75% or higher effective tax rate.

The insurance company attorney, spits his/her/its coffee out when reading this, realizing there is a huge liability waiting for tax fraud.

@OP

Educated guess is that even with a rated Fixture for safety, if something goes awry and its cannabis [SPECIFICALLY] related, it matters as much as your properly built DIY with no certs that also went awry. Now the political climate controls that unfortunately...

Building a careful circuit, isn't hard at all. Since electricity has the habit of being dangerous, lots of well qualified people write about in depth because of its seriousness. :peace:
