Secondary growth questions

Hey guys. I have a question about secondary growth. Is it worth keeping all the secondary shoots that are growing or are some of them a waste of energy and nutrients and stuff? My plants are 4 weeks old and 3 weeks old. I just gave 1/4 strength nutes for first time last watering on Saturday. I think they are looking pretty good but just wanted some input on the secondary shoots. I've googled and googled and can find the answers. The secondary shoots have really got long trying to find access to light.

Those secondary shoots you are talking about will become big fat buds in flower. When the plant gets big and the secondary shoots get small secondary shoots near the bottom you can trim those. I personally never trim anything and just throw all the lower fluff in my edibles material.

Gotcha. I think since this is my first grow I am just gonna let them do what the wanna do. And after I do it a few times I will start trying things. Thanks for the info guys!

Your plants look good, but small. Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm going to be blunt. If this is your first grow, I wouldn't cut anything until you are into flowering (other than topping the plant, which you should do now if you are going to do it). Only then trim a few fan leaves at the top of the canopy that are shading buds. In fact, if I were you I wouldn't even be feeding at this point. You think those little plants already leached all the nuits from your soil? Not even close. You will not make them grow faster by feeding them more than they need. What they don't eat will just stay in the soil, slowly toxyifing it. I think you need bigger pots, too. Take a look at my grow log if you want to see what plants look like at 4 weeks in larger pots, and I really don't know what I'm doing.

I started in solo cup for 2 weeks. The Small one is a 2.5 gallon and the big one is 3 I believe. I plan on transplanting one more time. And yeah I decided Im not gonna cut anything.
