Best opium poppy for home grow?

Just wondering if anyone has any experience growing poppies at home for their milk. If so, what was the most medicating strain you used? My recent foray into medical cannabis cultivation has me intrigued by poppy cultivation and harvesting for personal use. Being master of my own medicine cabinet is liberating--being able to have an organic high-intensity painkiller completely free of any pharmaceuticals or synthetics is enticing as I deal with Degenerative Disc Disease and spinal arthritis. Ganja is beautiful but relief for intense pain definitely isn't what it could be.

Their is a Japanese variety that's supposed to be the most potent haven't tried it myself but seems like the one I'd want.
Persian white are prob the strongest breed out or you have blood red which is used for oxy production

Papaver somniferum grows wild like weeds in yards all over the city. We have a shit ton in the garden. I just left them alone. But then after awhile I decided to slit a few of them using a bunch of single-edged razor blades that I taped together...it made the multiple slashes in one pass. After a day or two the black tar oozed out of the pods. I clipped them off when it looked like they were done oozing. Then I took them in and boiled them in a pan with some purified water until all the ooze dissolved. I boiled the water away until it was almost all dry and then let it sit out until it was completely dry. I scraped off the residue left in the pan. It looked very crystalline and smelled sickly sweet and kind of sexy smelling! It basically looks like fine freeze-dried coffee crystals. I have no idea what to do with it. I thought I might mix a little of it in with a bowl of weed or maybe try to vaporize it on my nail to see if I could get any kind of opium-like effect....Any ideas?

it won't smoke worth a fuck if you steeped the pods in the water.. there will be a lot of plant fats in it.. scraped opium will burn perfect but stuff made from steeped pods is only good if you mix it in a beverage or eat it in balls, it will not smoke hardly at all.. you have made basically flake opium. it will smoke but like I said, HARDLY.

Are poppies even worth growing? Indoors anyways? Wouldn't the yield be extremely low?
it's not really worth growing indoors .. you need a shit ton of poppies if your purpose is to stave off withdrawal.. hardly worth it if you are an addict.. but if one has occasional sever pain and is not an addict ,then it would be practical ..

Yeah, the oozed tar that came out of the pods had accumulated dirt and dust and various junk so I thought that boiling the pods and then filtering it through a coffee filter would clean it up. I figured I had done something wrong, but just wanted to experiment. Oh well, it does smell "attractive" if nothing else! :)

if it would of just been scraped opium it would smoke.. in fact ,what you did would of made cooked opium( premium opium) because of being cleaned.. but with the pods it's still good, but won't smoke worth shit..
it does smell good, to me it reminds me of the smell of molasses when it's evaporated down .. florally and sweet..

SHEESHA! Such misleading info..If you have decent soil mixed with a bit of good decomposed wood chips, flood irrigation and FULL SUN; without much work at all, you will do great!
Read up on when to planting as the seeds need a cold spell for germination. Read up on harvest technique. You can get two "harvests" AT LEAST. It is possible to get enough from each mature pod for a smoke. Dehydration is the killer of the golden brown sap, but what is left behind is good, healing and NON addictive. Unlike that pill you doctor gives you.
Poppy CANNOT be transplanted.
I have seen fields and cultivation of the purple and white flowered somniferum poppies in Afghanistan. Right outside my FOB..

On top of Cannabis flower for a pleasant nap. It is great for hunger pains, joint pain, sleep dysfunction, dehydration and diarrhea. Even flu symptoms. A carefully planted large back yard will yield you lots of clean sleepy medication. Bless your search for ease of your pain.

lol, good, healing, and non addictive opium. Does organic make it more or less addictive?
Opium is addictive, but no where as bad as heavy opiates like oxy or other narcotic pills.. the other alchiloids in poppies have symbiotic relationship with each other so addiction isn't as fast as say taking morphine alone.. narconine(. Sorry if spelled wrong) is one of the alchiloids in poppies being studied because it's capable of destroying cancers.
