Wow Dutchie...to see all those rules...I flashed on the old film "Brazil"...
These latest proposed changes look good in general. But it's not going to allow for basement operations. To get in on it will take some cash/investment to meet all the rules (security, tracking, facilities, testing, licenses, permits, approvals at various levels of government etc.). There's also no allowance (nursery or micro grower options) for sales direct to consumers, all sales would have to go to other standard, micro, nursery growers or labs. Nice that they seem to be listening and potentially making allowances for a competitive market. But when you roll all the requirements into it and no sales direct to consumer these micro or nursery grows that allow for seed production will require serious short and long term investment. A sub-contract with larger ops and probably 1/2 the investment in-hand would be needed before any bank will loan the kind of cash required to get in on this. This is not the BM nor for anyone without some business background and contacts. All i can say is that if you are a seed company you also need an outlet, or the ability to get your end product (i.e the flower) into an outlet for the public. How would you do that @duchieman ?

Yeah it's great that they actually listened to feedback and made some adjustments. It was looking like large LP's were going to be the only game in town. I got a chance to read through the whole proposal and there are definitely some good opportunities in there for smaller players. Will still take some decent investment but the micro grower or nursery options have reduced requirements for some of the overhead associated with larger LP's, that should make things more manageable. If you have some initial investment money and a decent business plan there should be several opportunities for private funding. Banks are still being pricks but should fall into line once they implement this thing.I've been at a crossroads about all this for sometime now because I'm on a path that I've been on for some time, but with this all happening I'd like to take my skill and experience and capitalize on it while the iron is hot. I've had so many ideas it's not funny. Some of it directly cannabis related, and others indirectly, like backyard compost production, and such. My wife and I have years of restaurant and bar experience, and I'm a pretty damned good cook, so I'd love to open the first vape lounge/restaurant in town. We've also talked a lot about moving back out to the country and leasing a fair sized property. She is a child and youth worker specializing in developmental services and would like to open a group home/camp/retreat. Because of the need, she would be eligible for some funding and investing to help her achieve that and I would dual purpose the property for my own business.
Now back to my post. Like I said, I've had countless ideas running through my head and bringing BB here has come into the mix a few times, and this was just another of those. I know that there's some creative writing in that legislation and I know that what they're proposing right now would require some serious money and commitment. For reasons I won't get into, I do have the ability to tap into some government funding, with the right business plan, and with the right business plan, coupled with experience of me and any partner(s) I may find, I'm confident that private funding can be obtained. I could come up with a whole plan where breeding and seed production is only a part of it. It's a opening market for anyone with the right product or service and with the right for recreational home growing in the mix, that's a lot of pie to eat from. My first dilemma though is figuring what the hell I want to do when I grow up. I finish school in April and I then I decide whether I go back for one more year, or not. Then, the world is my ocean.
