Okay okay okay, so I'm pretty new here, but I thought it would be a cool idea to create a new South African group so that all the South Africans (probably not that many) could discuss their grows including problems, successes and general questions. This group isn't solely for South Africans, but I thought it would be cool to bring us all together to see how successful some growers are here in SA including indoor and outdoor grows.

Post pics, questions, problems and solutions as well as some DIY stuff. Anything is relevant and feel free to ask anything as I'm sure we are all willing to help if you need.

Let's get this thread started...

Happy growing.

I'm interested in the growing season, laws, who buys it (in general), and prospects for legalisation?

Illegal, 12 months of the year, pretty broad cut of the population, probably;y have some regulated medicinal MJ in the short run
Good to know.

Some people in a position to know have said they think Capetown is quite possibly the best place to live anywhere on the planet.

Just for that reason alone it's on my bucket list.

Yeha first world living at 3rd world prices.
My wife has been working in tourism all her life, just let us know if you want to come this way.
Then you won't miss any of the good stuff.
I've visited most of the southern African countries, nothing comes close to the Cape.
Nothing I've seen on TV would rather have me live in the average US town.
I live a bit further out of Cape town these days, tiny green leafy village that is surrounded by mountains and vineyards like France.

Police are daft as fuck too, so as long as one doesn't attract stupid attention, it is a pretty hassle-free life.

Sounds wonderful. To be brutally honest, I wouldn't recommend America to anyone not living in a war torn third world country.

I certainly hope things change for the better, but it will be awhile. The heads are firmly up and locked!

I'll hit you up when I'm ready. It won't be right away, but I want to see the world before I get too old to have the chance. Or we finish destroying it...

Ah America the land of opportunities. Lol hmmm curious to know why you wouldn't recommend the USA to anyone except those fleeing war
It's fast becoming a militarized police state.
The opportunity has gone for most; America has less economic mobility than any other developed nation.
Income and wealth inequality are bad and getting worse.
People are getting desperate, which breeds extremism and crime.
America is fine if you're already rich- but there are better places to go if you have money.

Here in ZA we really have some of the best weather, it can be raining like a mofo one minute and then you're getting sunburnt the next. Our weather alone keeps some people here, I'm sure.

The people here are amazingly friendly, especially the coloured guys I've met and the black guys I've met. There's still some serious racism issues here, but it's expected as apartheid was not that long ago if you look at the people who are older (above 50/55) as they grew up with it, and it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks, so they won't change how they treat black people, BUT, more and more people are becoming accustomed to seeing interracial couples and working with other races. To be honest with you guys, the amount of Zambian black wealthy businessman here is crazy, and they have money and are incredibly smart. Majority of black people here speak more than 3 languages and they're smart, but south africans are lazy, they'd rather be on the street and not have a "boss" than work. This is why we have so many Malawians, Zimbabweans and some other nationals coming here for work.

We are a great country, we have crime, just like anywhere else. But if you're a little bit aware, you'll be fine. If you're visiting, come to well known areas, like Johannesburg or Pretoria in Gauteng, Ballito or Umhlanga Rocks in Kwa Zulu Natal, Cape town is amazing in the Western Cape. You'll find some place a little more unsavoury to tourists, but if you speak to people you know there, they can tell you where they are willing to go, where they love to go, and where NOT to go. All you need to do is ask.

Feel free to hit me up of you have any questions.

Take it easy guys.

Heard a blurb on the radio that you guys are having a nasty water shortage issue right now. 87 liters per person per day limit? Some Americans use that just brushing their fucking teeth!

What's the story?
