heres a datasheet on some remote phosphor lenses available at digikey

3500k 80 cri is typ 205 lm/radiant watt.
cree xp-3 royal blue top bin is 500 mW radiant output at 350 mA x 3.1V (1.1W) = 45% efficiency

that combined radiant efficiency would be

205 lm/Wrad x 0.5 Wrad/1.1W = 92 lm/watt

doesnt seem ready for prime time based on those numbers

i thought blues were quite efficient relatively, i must be missing something

im lazy but somebody could do the math and account for the radiant efficiency of the blue diode

this is more like it, crees xp-g3

top bin 730 mW at 350 mA x 2.82V = 74% efficient

Remote phoshorous is what led me to midpower. Lots of legal trouble if you delve into remote phosphorus.
