Ya know.. I've thought about that some, and I totally agree, there is work that Amit and Stephen put in to this... like most businesses, the people that run them put effort into making them happen. I totally get it. Having several businesses myself, owning various properties in two parts of the United States as well as build and sell firearms on the side, I'm very compassionate about making a business successful. -- But where I differ is that in all my businesses and rental properties and firearms sales, I try to be fair with the margins I charge, I don't look to make a quick buck. The point your missing is HLG spent time and money, designing a custom board with Samsung chips, its not the same as what you can just order up. I also have come to the point where, I refuse to buy Chinese goods direct or through Ebay. Seems like there are more cons and thieves than not. I buy from sellers in my country, even if its Chinese made, because I then can get real warranty service, not some guy on chat trying to talk you into soldering a new chip on your board........ been there screw that! With HLG. I had an issue and it was taken care of within 48 hours!
I like to save money too, but it is not always worth it.
And this is the QB thread, not the counterfeit QB thread. Either own up to your mistake or go look up the other guy with the Chinese made boards. Bragging up this crap here is insulting to all who own them and certainly to the guys at HLG.
And I suppose the warranty of the board is worth the price. But a DIY kit that charges more than twice as much for a driver and heatsink and parts is not fair margins. Arrow sells the drivers for ~$55 and heatsinkusa sells the heatsinks for ~$15, the parts can be had for $10. And the boards (only) never seem to be in stock, only through Amazon for $149 for two boards...
I get it.. it's a business, they need to earn a profit. But it can be had for far less. And I'm not trying to change anyones mind, I'm just pointing out alternatives. And Stephen and his dick swallowing crew are butthurt over it.
What is a counterfeit QB board? They didn't invent it. The diodes are the same... the thing the diodes are attached to are different... so what?
