pH is still trending upwards, but not as much as before. Went to bed and it was pH 5.8, woke up and it was pH 5.9. Not bad.

Water level is still falling, EC is falling, and pH is rising.

plants in the veg tent have stopped growing fucked up leaves for the most part, and the roots look really good. The youngest clones in there are growing fast.

New fertilizer. This’ll be the second week.

Greenleaf megacrop 6g/gal, emerald harvest CalMag 2ml/gal, mammoth p0.6ml/gal. Ends up being a little more than 1.6EC

I’ve used mammoth p before, but I stopped using it because my plants were so shit it wasn’t worth the money. It still kinda isn’t for the plants in the flower tent that I have now because they’re pretty crispy, but much better than before.

I keep having better and better runs, in part because I accumulate a lot of data and put that together to give me an idea of what to do. But most of it is because I asked for help from some talented growers.

Right around 800ppm seems to be good. The pH isn’t going up rapidly, maybe 0.1 every 10-12hrs.

I think I had a mag def? Maybe that’s why the leaves on the front left plant had a dark green bluish hue. Anyway, the plants in the veg tent are looking nice so I’m just going to keep doing what I’ve been doing because the damage is done and they have less than two weeks left (probably).

Added 20ml of calmag to the reservoir (1ml/gal)

I for sure had a bad deficiency. I think this time when I change the res I'm going to do whatever gets me to 100ppm of calmag/gal, and still go with 6g/gal of megacrop. I don't know if it's the lights or what but they want it and didn't have it.

I've been checking the trichs for ripeness, and overall they're about 90% cloudy and 10% clear. But the plants don't look ripe at all, I'm not sure if it's a stress thing that will go away the better I get at growing or what.

The last time they took a lot longer to get to the stage they're at now, even though these ones are pretty fucked from cal def or whatever.

I didn't feed extra calmag for a week and symptoms started to appear. I started feeding calmag at 2ml and symptoms stopped progressing. New growth is normal and plants in my veg tent are growing fast as hell.

Therefore, I think that I need to feed extra calmag, and should have from the get go.

I'm aware of what is in the fertilizer that I'm using, I bought the big bag of it. I don't think I should increase the amount I'm feeding past the maximum recommended so I will supplement with calmag.

I haven't used megacrop before, but it's been working pretty well.

I just wish that I knew what the hell I'm doing, because most of the time I don't.

I do know that the way I am going about doing things will eventually land me onto the magic number that I need.

Maybe a broken ph tester/not calibrated/salt buildup/can you over water with that system?

Is there a chart to follow? Thats a hell of an experiment on your future smoke to find the best nutes for the plant.

No, not broken. I have two and they are calibrated weekly. One is a monitor and constantly in the reservoir. The other one I use to check the batch pH when it is mixed and make sure they both agree. I use NIST traceable reference solutions so it’s not those either.

No growing medium so no salt buildup, the roots aren’t allowed to dry.

Yes they can be overwatered, but they just get a little droopy if that happens because they’ll sit in it until it gets recovered.

It’s just because they needed the CalMag I’m pretty sure. These are fairly large plants with well established root systems. Like a full five gallon bucket of white roots.

I’m feeding at 1.6EC, any less and the stems start to purple. I’m following the feeding chart for mega crop, 6g/gal.

The plants in my veg tent don’t look anything like the ones in my flower tent. All clones from the same mother.

I think I’ve just gotta give them some time.

less food wont make the stem purple, most people always do less when using nutes. what line are you using? less is more when growing pot

I’m using a one part dry nutrient, greenleafnutrients mega crop. Their calculator says feeding 6g/gal gives you about 1.0EC of macro/micro nutrients available. The other 0.6EC is from additives in the fert, not actual plant food. I just started supplementing with the CalMag when I saw the little spots that happen from severe calcium deficiency. I’ve only been using this line for 3 weeks now, and I added the CalMag last week.

I’m growing using high pressure aeroponics, and I emailed back and forth with Richard Stoner who created the aeroponics unit for NASA, he said that I should be feeding around 600TDS (a little more than 1EC).

On top of that, my plants are feeding normally. Water level is falling, EC drops a bit, and pH rises a bit over a day (my system is recirculating). I thought that they stop eating normally if you I’ve them too much or too little? Right now my garden is using more water daily than it ever has before. I truly think that I need to give it some time before I change anything.

I was feeding them less than 1EC, and then around 1EC for a long time with the same symptoms, and they all started to go away when I increased how much I was feeding to where it is.

I really appreciate the help, this shit is counterintuitive for me.

Edit: I was using a different fertilizer line for a long time and feeding less than 1EC, and then around 1EC with similar symptoms which started to go away when I started feeding at 1.6EC.

I just changed my program a little.

Now it turns on the vacuum pump to recover any nutrient solution right after the spray nozzles turn on.

The pump is on for 30 seconds, and the vacuum chamber opens for 30 seconds, this happens every 180 seconds.

No more water on my roots, not even a little bit.

I thought I'd do a rundown of how I make my water, and ask that if anyone sees anything that I'm doing wrong let me know

Before I start, I calibrate my pH pen and the guardian monitor with pH 4 and pH 7 reference solutions, I calibrate with the pH 7 solution first.

6-11ppm RO water.

This time I'm adding emerald harvest calmag until the ppm of my water reaches 100 (the pH is around 6.6 now, no danger of precipitating the potassium silicate) this turns out to be 11ml/5gal (2.2ml/gal)

Then I'm going to weigh out and add my dry nutrients and let them mix.

Then I adjust the pH up, to get it in range, which takes about 10-12ml for 20 gallons.

After that, pH trends up about 0.1 a day and it takes 3-5ml of pH down to keep it at a pH of 5.8.

Don't worry about colours too much at first. as long as there are no necrotic (dead) spots, burned edges and tips, or stunted small leaves, you are growing fine herb.

Thanks dude, that's what I had, all of those symptoms. The new leaves coming in on the plants in the veg tent look normal, I've been checking to make sure they don't start getting the spots.

The growth tips look normal now, not thin or discolored. And no new necrotic spots, I've been checking.
