Starting in hydroponic cloner before hempy buckets

Hey Just started hempy buckets but went 100% perlite and the seed growth is seriously slow.

I’ve switched to 1L coco airpots just to get them started and roots on their way. Think il go coco/perlite mix or add a little vermiculite when up potting to buckets.

Next time though, would it work starting them in root riot and in a hydroponic cloner that sprays water upwards from the reservoir? I’m thinking it will get off to a fast start and the roots will grow quite well. And then when decent size, carefully take out and lower into hempy buckets so the time taken for the roots in hempy to reach the reservoir is minimised.

What you reckon?

I plant my clones into the toe of an old sock filled with soil, then put that into the bucket of perlite.Iv' tried planting into perlite too ,but my way seems to give the plant a chance to root well before they break through the sock.

I like to start seeds in a tupperware with wet paper towels behind my computer tower to get them cracked, thenn when they show tails put them in solo cups filled with 50/50 perlite and organic poting soil with a layer of all perlite on the bottom and a layer of all soil on top. The soil increases moisture retention and acts as easy-to-digest baby food to get the seedling going. Then transplant, or BOGs double potting method, into 100% perlite buckets or tubs and feed chem nutes.

Perlite hempys have the best performance to maintenance ratio of any method I've tried.

Thanks man yeah they just in a coco 1Litre air pot, easy to transplant. Will stick it into perlite hempy then I have 14Litre size will that be enough? Veg for around 6 weeks

Sounds like it would work. Since the airpot has holes all over, you could probably just bury the whole thing in perlite as it is. Either fully or maybe just the bottom half to keep the coco from staying too wet. Then after the roots reach the rez, only water into the perlite.
