pH dropping in DWC

Hey again everyone,

I'm about 3 weeks into flowering in my DWC tent and so far everything is looking great:



The only thing that's concerning me right now is that each bucket's pH is super unstable: I will add pH up until it reaches 5.8-6.0, but then the very next day it will drop to as low as 4.5. This happens in each bucket, and none of them are connected to each other. It seems that no matter how much pH up I add, it always falls dramatically in 12 hours. It's baffling me, considering each bucket is completely full and oftentimes I don't add anything besides pH up (I like to keep EC on the low side). Anyone know what might be going on here?

Are they five gallon buckets? If so the smaller they are the bigger the swing. What sort of water are you using, what are you using for ph up and down?

Tap water or RO? Having low/no EC & small amounts in each unattached bucket is a recipe for fluctuating ph. Theres no buffers from low nutes to keep a stable pH and also, the larger the res, the more stable it will be. If you can manage to run all the buckets to one res you will find much more control, and ease of adjustment. Im willing to bet if you up your EC with a dose of nutrients you will find a bit more control over pH fluctuation than you currently are. I grew excatly how you are for a period then decided to go F&D with one res. It was a good step in the right direction.

Are you chilling the nutrients?
What kind of temps are you running the nutes at.
Could be the start of rot?
Is you ppm rising or falling?
What nutrients are you using?

as above say connecting them all together with a res and maybe recirculating with a small pump would make thing much easier to control and maybe more stable as well.

Has this just started or or has it been going on all the way through?
Is is worse or better just after water change?

What brand of nutes are you using? Sometimes the composition determines the pH response.

What EC are you feeding it? You said it was low. Whats low to you?
