Some strains don't amber!

So they keep drinking the same amount? I also keep them green and healthy till chop now. In the past not so much lol. I still contend that mine do slow down significantly when ripe, as measured in my res. they've stopped pretty much adding bulk at that point.

Pretty sure it is strain and individual grow dependent.

Not all my seed plants slow down on drinking when they are ripe. But I keep them healthy through to harvest best I can.

Some slow down a day or two before I harvest.

Mine are the same ,still drink right through ,Because i'm using air compressor on roots ,they stay pretty healthy, ,Just start to lose color during last week ,once water is all they are getting

Yeah I'm with you in that, my auto at day 47 hairs turned orange then a week later she is double the size and all new white hairs in her

I've been noticing this lately -- plants that look like they are finishing on a normal schedule in a normal way, and then about a week before I think they will be done they produce a whole bunch of fresh white hairs. I usually chop at the first sign of amber, my patient doesn't like couch lock highs, but in the end no single method covers all plants.

Here's a couple coming down tomorrow. Lots of white hairs, but also varying amounts of amber. On hairs alone I'd give them more time, but amber is not my friend. They are just shy of 11 weeks in flower.

Ok. I don’t know why you have an air compressor on your roots?Or why that would keep them healthy?

I wouldn’t cut either of those. Are the Amber trichomes standing tall and pumped up?

I grow Thai diesel hybrids that look like those and they tent to take 12 weeks and are far more potent a week or two past the way yours look.

They sometimes have colored transparent trichomes. Amber, purple, red and blue I have seen in sativa leaning plants like those.

They are most potent and even psychedelic when the colors are popping and the rest are cloudy.

I’m sorry I don’t have pics in this phone anymore but they look like healthy clear trichs but with color on the stalk, head or both.

And also are you seeing the amber on the calyx or the bud leaves. Bud leaves turn earlier.

I grow in Auto Pots, this means the roots are sat in a Nutrients in the bottom of a tray ,The Nutrients in the main tank have a air stone in it,The air ring in the bottom of the tray is to keep the nutrients on the move,Helps stop salt build ups,I have done it with out the air ring in the bottom of the pots and they like the extra air,its something i have been doing for about 10 year,

I see. I never used auto pots. But I get what you are saying.

Dude, sometimes the path of least resistance on a chick is up the front path. I've heard it.

Looking at the pic zoomed in it looks just about perfectly ripe. Hard to see for sure but looks like almost all cloudy trichs. Peak cannabanoid production is likely between now and maybe a week before degradation.

Looking at the flower itself. It is entering the prime harvest window. I would give it a bit more time for best potency and complexity. A week more can make average pot amazing. As long as the trichs have not started to degrade or get damaged.

Brown or amber trichomes are the sign of the thc breaking down into a non psychoactive component. Cbn.

Unless the strain shows colored trichomes early. Some plants do that. And like the op stated. Not all amber some stay cloudy for a long time.

I have gone 15 weeks with a sativa leaning hybrid and never got 100% cloudy or any amber trichs yet.

No but I have seen another Michigan Med grower out there. When my breeder used to post my pics they would show up with the other mmg’s pics on online searches.

I should have used a better name here but I had to come up with one for a pic for ch9 Seeds a few years ago before I joined the forums.

So I was already MichiganMedGrower but maybe not first. Lol.

The Diesel Skunk went amber very early on the leaves, and then when the calyx trichomes came in there was a second wave and they have had a more normal progression. These two plants are the only ones left from my last run, and its kind of expensive to keep the whole garage heated for just these two plants. It's a long story, they are F1 crosses that are totally unknown (Wild Thai x Sweet Island Skunk and NYC Diesel x Sweet Island Skunk), and I was having space issues and these were cut down to be smaller early in flower, so they are small and it's hard to rationalize the expense. I guess I'll think about it some more... I suppose one more week is doable.

greenthumb I think you may of miss read ANC's post. He said to harvest when the brown hairs recede. Not when the hairs turn brown.

Again even then, it's all about strain and tricks and the hairs themselves. If a plant is in 4 weeks of flower and hairs turned brown and receded,
