3 ton so 36k BTU, how often is it running? i guess im asking if its more efficient than running a big full ac unit. dont know if im better off with a couple of these or a 5 ton split system and run some fabric duct down the middle of the grow room.

what convinced you that 7k led will be a suitable replacement for 12k hps?
7200w to be exact ;)

first hand motherfucking experience haha. all jokes aside, these things are great. they arent for everyone but if you can build one at a time and slowly transition its worth it. especially here in the desert where i need to save the heat

600w each on average. if im feeling saucy i'll turn them up to 666:fire:
fantastic coverage over the entire canopy.

They run for about 5 min every 20 min...roughly. I set the temp at 80f but they dont start cooling until the temp hits 82-83 and then shutdown at 78. Power wise they're more efficient than a regular split system but cost more upfront.

I could probably cool 10kw with these units but Im in Ontario. Might be a different story in desert heat.

thanks for the info. yeah we hit 120 here. i'd need like 3 or 4. i like the splits because i can install them all myself. all that extraction equipment comes in handy lol

Same here, run 1 3 ton unit(36k) in one of the gardens and it cools 8-10 de bulbs bare, sealed room but during summer months it can get close. With a single head...figure same unit with two heads would of been better.
Base that on the other garden where i have two1 tons(12k) on opposite ends and those do 8 np during the summer and thats a full ton less cooling power.

nice. i'm putting a 4'x4' fixture together at the moment. gonna be about 750w at full power. did you notice any major differences in using the more pattern type design vs even rows?

i havent run that pattern one yet. built it out of scrap stuff for a side project i was working on. i cant imagine there will be any noticeable difference. if anything i wish i had done that with all mine and saved a few hundred lol. the only reason i did 1 per sqft on the others was i went with citi 1212 which arent as efficient at high wattage so i did more of them run softer. half of my rigs are cxm22's which are similar spec to the more expensive chips but considerably cheaper. or at least they were when i bought them.

750 is more than enough. you will find yourself getting intensity burns if you put it too close. i start at about 24" and lower it down from there to see how they react. if i wasnt concerned with savings or heat i could crank these to about 1000w on the cxm22 rigs. i built them with four rows of four and each row has an hlg240 lol. this was before i knew how potent they were but i got a good deal on them so its all good.

i think im gonna build a quantum board rig and see how it does. im thinking 4 boards on their 4 board heatsink cranked to max on on hlg600. want to see how it compares. it should be WAY LIGHTER of a fixture. my COBs weigh 40-50 lbs so keep that in mind lol

my rig is gonna run cxm22s. got a 25 pack for the price break - yeah they are still considerably cheaper than other chips, and very efficient at the wattage i'm looking for. i'm aiming for 1,450(+/-) PPFD in a 4'x4' footprint. There was a study I read on optimal PPFD for cannabis.
I've got another 4'x8' tent I plan to use to test other lighting options. I'm definitely interested in testing quantum boards after I finish comparing SE HPS to my COB array.

here is the test for mine about to flower in a few weeks. cobs vs SE vs DEva 1k vs DE 630cmh 3kr lol. i got a lot going on.......fml. on a lighter note i checked the trichs today and only have a few amber, maybe like 5-10% tops. gonna go 10 more days and then chop. definitely not happy with this round but i learned a shitload of practical information and practices so it was all worth it. the ugly structure on these is from a time malfunction causing flower and then reveg/flower again lol. on top of that i used old drip lines that had pathogens that infected my system and almost wiped everything out. took forever to figure out was going on since it presented itself as a deficiency at first since the roots were dying. naturally i overfed to compensate lol. bleach saved the day/harvest. now i treat my water before i hand water to make sure my water is chlorinated. i may switch to h202 but its super pricey. only benefit is the lifespan in the res is doubled or tripled. a whole 4 days compared to 1-2 for bleach.

Preparations... halfway finished empty basement room, bare cement floor, no ceiling.
20170308_164739.jpg
Cover the ceiling with sticky plastic material... luckily I had rolls just kicking around!
20170408_174949.jpg
Rolled out white waterproof adhesive flooring (had rolls laying around too lol) and mylar along the wall.
Also sealing the wall to the ceiling, and to the floor with plastic adhesive rolls for an air tight seal! Yes the corners too.

Dual vented AC to maintain air quality. Auto watering because im lazy like that.
20170507_203423.jpg
Dual vented 1000w light. 220cfm fan pulling basement air, to cool light pushing inside air to the outside of house.
This design ensures any escaped air from the room does not seep upstairs or out of your basement, only out of the vent window.
This hood has been upgraded to the sun system 3.
