Doing a coco grow have questions

What ppm you guys feed your sprouts when they pop Up? Also I use the coco brick from bonticare rinsed the hell out of it but obviously not enough as my run off was in high 800s and I was only feeding 250ppm of grow and cal mag . Did I do it right by continuing to feed that 250 until that run off was about the same? Sorry for the new questions I’m transitioning from soil and never really dealt with ppm .

I wouldn't worry about the run off. You'll drive yourself crazy doing that. Unless it's an ebb and flow of some sorts then don't worry about it. Just do what you're doing, nice low PPM for now with a PH of 5.8. They love coco, they'll go nuts! So much faster than soil.

for some, yes.
Well put. Obviously soil has its spot or no one would use it- million ways to skin a cat a million ways to grow dank...

I myself love coco!!!! Coco in aerated pots... I make my own out of clothes hampers or milk crates lined with weed block fabric... can’t overwater that way, cud treat em like hydro I think!

In fact I’m experimenting with a method called “passive plant killer” with coco... which really is a blending with hydro.

Anyway great medium.,. I’ve been in coco a couple years now just got a tds meter to do this passive plant killer deal... before that they did great with my tap water which I found out was 350 to 400ppm! And I just always fed crazy light till I seen they looked a tad hungry upped it and moved forwaRd as there was no need to wait for a dry cycle so even in containers if well drained you can correct problems instantly...and I found it was elementary to find the sweet spot with nutes this way, really showed how easy it is to overfeed them!

Also it’s very reusable!

Thanks a lot for the replies. I’ve done my research so to speak just didn’t understand the whole numbers thing. I liked soil , but I’m excited to see the explosive growth with coco .

A good starting reference.
  • Seedlings, Early Sprouts 100 to 250
  • Early Vegetation 300 to 400
  • Full Vegetation 450 to 700
  • Early Blooming 750 to 950
  • Full Mature Blooms 1000 to 1600

Remember to subtract the value of the water your working with. And use 1/2 of what the pkg says the first time you use it. Good Luck, Coco is a great way to grow. pH your solutions in Hydro Values.

Thanks man . My water comes out to 170ppm that’s after it sits for 24-48 hours . I’ve been adding maybe 2ml cal mag to my nutes every feeding, but do you think I could skip out on it? What ppm is water considered “hard”? I know reverse osmosis is 0 so you need to add cal mag but where do you draw the line with tap water?

So if my tap is 170 only put in the water 130 ppm of nute to get to 300?

OP - don't be surprised if you max out around 1000 PPM's. This is a great range posted by @Jypsy Dog with exception to 1,600PPM's - that's really uncommon to feed that high.

If you want to keep it easy just bump up 100PPM per week. I typically max out veg at 500-600 and max out flower at 700-1000 depending on medium/grow method.

The link to my journal is attached, I've been posting PPM's and nutrients I've been using throughout the thread.

Alright fellas . Jypsy I now have a better understanding thanks to that link . Much appreciated .

Smokebros thanks for your input here bud . Your plants look great . I will bump up my ppms slowly every week like you stated and look for burnt tips and back off . I’ll also give your journal a read through and try to soak up some knowledge .

Coco is better than soil?
Better is subjective. Coco is faster and more explosive hands down. Many will say soil is safer, more forgiving and so on. I don't keep my mothers in coco but all flowering I do is some form of hydro.
