Just wondered if light is better distributed when CFLs are placed vertical or horizontal when over the plant? Im gonna get the longer type CFLs not the weird swirly top ones, thanks
OK thanks man ill try the spiral typeHang em between the branches, about 1 to 1.5 inches away. I like spiral CFLs. They have a better radiation pattern in my opinion.
Thanks for the advice they'll still be above the plant but just would horizontal spread more? Don't think it matters to much but if i can make it more effective why not? The grow hasn't started properly yet just getting stuff together ordered one of those prong looking things you plug in it can hold 5 CFLs only doing one plant at a time what setup you got going on then?Where you put your lighting partly depends on your set up and how you're planning to grow your plants. But I would make sure I have some above the plant, like the sun.
I used to use spiral CFLs. They worked perfectly for me at the time. I've since switched to regular socket LEDs for the heat and power savings. They're still about the same effectiveness.
My set up allows me to move my lights all over the place. Up, down, left, right, forward, back...
Pretty.much exactly the same closet, this is what i call my "hobo" grow, a sheet of cardboard rolled in a cylinder shape the same diameter as the pot , all the inside lined with wrapping paper, the shiney glossy type white side showing and one 20 watt cfl and it actually works haha extremely slow growth as expected but its nearly reached veg just a bag seed i had lying around for like a year lol im doing autos when i set up properMy set up works for me, and isn't at all the most effective. But it's incredibly cheap, easy, and reliable.
I'm literally in a closet with regular socket LEDS. I use adjustable multiple socket adapters like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DVUDDC2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
As the plants get larger I raise them. When in flower, I also hang a light or two around the middle of the plant to add supplemental light to the lower half. Again, this works for me. It's not the most professional.
Thanks for the flowering tip with the light on the side BTWPretty.much exactly the same closet, this is what i call my "hobo" grow, a sheet of cardboard rolled in a cylinder shape the same diameter as the pot , all the inside lined with wrapping paper, the shiney glossy type white side showing and one 20 watt cfl and it actually works haha extremely slow growth as expected but its nearly reached veg just a bag seed i had lying around for like a year lol im doing autos when i set up proper
