There are many methods you can use, if you are new, start with an easier one, say soil, I would say coco, but you really should read up on coco grows to find the areas of concern. I have been growing in coco for a number of yrs now, and although my grows have been off and on successful till my last three grows, 3.5 lbs smokable buds off a total of 11 plants. The three grows were in a 4 x 4 foot tent, DTW, DYI drip irrigation, in two gallon smart pots, Canna nutes and Canna coco. I started growing Vertical 6 grows ago, 5 vertical and one horizontal (was too rushed for time as my seeds did not arrive in time and had to use freebies from Seedsman Seeds). I have been pleased with the technique but there has been a learning curve, no question. In my first couple of vertical grows I hand watered this first, just could not keep enough solution for the plants hand watering. In the second I tried using Blumats, lost the entire grow about 6 weeks into flower. After that I build my drip system and it has been my standard since. I would like to do another soil grow at some point to test the soil vs coco theory on quality and flavor.
One thing you don't want to do is try something too difficult for your experience level, it will cause you bigtime stress and dissolution. Start easy and work your way up. Do your homework, read journals and remember most on here are willing to help as long as you have done you homework before asking a question. You can always type in the search box and come up with answers also.
Good luck on you grow!
