They all do good, keep everything moderately simple(temps, nutes, hum%,air movement.)
And you will have a successful grow season.

Hydro will grow faster, not necessarily yield more. Soil is easier, so if you are new go with a soil grow first. There's a lot to learn here, and much of it can't be learned in a book or web site.

On the other hand, if you dive right in to hydro you will learn faster, but you'll get more failures along the way.

I vote soil. You need to figure out what your environment will allow. And soil will be much easier to dial things in like temp and rh, water temp stuff like that

I failed at every single soil grow I tried for the first year. I work a little more analytical so I found dwc and ebb and flow and fell in love. I like knowing that ph 5.6 ppm at 500 gives x reaction. Ph raises and y happens. It works for my noggin better than "put some bennies in there man" or "lift the pot to know when to water" so I guess it really just depends. Basically put all 3 on a piece of paper and whichever your eye leads you to is the one to give a go. Don't sweat yeild. You'll get some smoke and on the next run you'll e better at whatever method if you try.

Generally its DWC that grows the most

and is the most demanding of a new grower to learn

easier is the coco still very popular with noobs

soil may grow the least

but offers the best tasting

this is assuming all other cantonments in light.air. and experience are met

good luck

Soil is best for quality. I dont care what anyone says, hydro just doesn't give it the quality that soil does
Shitty hydro buds come from subpar growers. They feed way too much, use inferior nutrients and can’t dry and cure properly. I’ve done blind test at cannabis cup down in Clio mi and with others I know. If done right you can’t tell the difference from my water only soil grows to my rdwc grows.

There are many methods you can use, if you are new, start with an easier one, say soil, I would say coco, but you really should read up on coco grows to find the areas of concern. I have been growing in coco for a number of yrs now, and although my grows have been off and on successful till my last three grows, 3.5 lbs smokable buds off a total of 11 plants. The three grows were in a 4 x 4 foot tent, DTW, DYI drip irrigation, in two gallon smart pots, Canna nutes and Canna coco. I started growing Vertical 6 grows ago, 5 vertical and one horizontal (was too rushed for time as my seeds did not arrive in time and had to use freebies from Seedsman Seeds). I have been pleased with the technique but there has been a learning curve, no question. In my first couple of vertical grows I hand watered this first, just could not keep enough solution for the plants hand watering. In the second I tried using Blumats, lost the entire grow about 6 weeks into flower. After that I build my drip system and it has been my standard since. I would like to do another soil grow at some point to test the soil vs coco theory on quality and flavor.

One thing you don't want to do is try something too difficult for your experience level, it will cause you bigtime stress and dissolution. Start easy and work your way up. Do your homework, read journals and remember most on here are willing to help as long as you have done you homework before asking a question. You can always type in the search box and come up with answers also.

Good luck on you grow!

So many growers are stuck with thier way of growing and these ideas set in stone in the head about what is "the best". Truth is...all mediums work great if you know what your doing. If I was the op I would grow as simple as hell. Just a peat based soilless mix like Promix or Sunshine #4 in 3 to 5 gallon pots with a simple one part nutrient like Ionic or Dynagro. I suggest this to just about anyone wanting to grow some cannabis. No additives. Not a one. Limit the variables. Just a base and Promix in some pots under a decent HID lamp. And take it from there. You can grow some mean buds and alot doing it this way. I did. For years.

Interesting, can you expand on your theory, like show a side/side, or give some reasoning for your comment?
I grow in coco, that is considered hydro if my thinking is correct. I know soil growers, indoors and outdoor, that are not even close to what I am producing. The indoor soil grows are not near as productive an not the quality I am turning, the outdoor in soil grows kick my ass for quantity but I do not believe their quality is near mine, plus I have not had any outdoor soil grown cannabis that did not have either worms or webs in them. Nasty shit!
I must say I have only grown indoor soil one time, quantity was low, quality was good.

As I stated above, I may do a soil grow with this LSD clone that I took during the 4th week of flower and has started to reveg. I think I am going to do a one plant Monster Crop indoor soil grow with super soil in the 4 x 4 on a carousel, if the plant sets up for a monster crop as I would expect.
