Sour Diesel auto in flowering but just not sure if she’s going as planned. Has a lot of bud sites.

Did some defoliation to open her up and lst and some fimming all done pre flower.

I still am dealing with a calcium deficiency (I think), and hope that doesn’t mess up the flowering part of this now since I’ve gotten her this far along.

Any comments greatly appreciated and sorry for the lighting when taking pic. Don’t pull them out of box until Tuesday.

they look pretty healthy to me, but pics in better light wouldn't hurt. i don't see a lot of calcium freckles, or much of anything else that would worry me in that pic

thx. there are a few calcium freckled leaves. I added some organic calcium to my last 2 waterings. The new leaves still show a little sign of it but not much. I was more worried because its an auto and seems to be moving along slower than its counterpart...maybe I just have to be patient lol.

Here she is as of today . Just put Support ties on the branches to support the buds because they will hopefully get massive lol.

She’s still pushing out what looks like a calcium deficiency. Am using an organic calcium product but that doesn’t seem to be giving it enough to correct the issue. It’s just calcium not cal/mag as I didn’t think I needed magnesium for a calcium deficiency. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I’ll be ordering the vegamatrix bloom product which is cal/mag but more organically, but won’t be getting that for another week or so.

Thx lol u should have seen them before I did two rounds of defoliation one right before end of veg and one 3 weeks into flower. Nothing major and nothing really taken from the top. Was able to get to about 30-40 bud sites on her just hoping they all fill in nicely.

It looks fine in the pictures but I was curious why you are lopping the leaf tips off on some points?

It looks like you might be removing the signs of an issue before we can see it.

What’s lopping mean?

I did tuck some of the leaves away from bud sites if that’s what you mean.

I did also cut the tips off the leaves versus removing them in whole so they wouldn’t need block light to bud sites... But not to remove the signs of an issue.

There are at least 3-4 leaves showing the calcium deficiency (or what I think is)... might not be showing too well in pics tho.

ah gotcha. You don't need to cut the leaves like that on the top, the stuff right below will get bulk up. I would cut out a lot of the popcorn junk on the bottom thats not getting any light at all. It will help focus wasted energy on those towards the tops..

If all 40ish bud sites in the canopy (it’s not as even as I wanted it but hey first grow I’ve seen almost all the way thru) bulk up I’ll be extremely happy and stoked...

Here is more evidence of what I’m dealing with. Thinking boron and/or calcium deficiency. She was perfectly fine but daily pushing out these shitty black and brown spots all over the leaves.

Also some of the pistils are turning like a burnt brown. So thinking that was because light was too close. I moved it up about 6” or so. Hate that I got her this far only to lose her...

still looks pretty good to me. looks like you need some more calcium. the ferts i use don't have any calcium, it interferes with the uptake of sulfur, so i use a foliar calcium spray. it's called yield booster. made for tomatoes, but works good for weed. spray it recommended strength every two weeks and i haven't had a freckle since i started using it

Thanks much. Today Just gave her some organic plant food (coast of Maine) which has 4% calcium in it and also added some biomin calcium to the water. I really need a quick fix on her. So even with that leaf with the black spots you think only calcium and not boron as well?

Are the brown hairs Ok? I read it couldn’t mean she was pollinated but I don’t see any evidence of bananas only a lot of hairs. I can look again if it’s a belief that could be it tho - regarding the brown hairs. I thought it could have been because I turned the plant 90 degrees and the main coals are sitting up a little higher than the canopy so they were about 15” from the LED light and mfg says 18” during flower. I moved light up.

Was thinking of ordering some vegamatrix boost which is basically cal/mag with other good micros in it...Can I get yield booster from stores like Home Depot and is it safe to spray it on her while flowering as we all know we want to tone down the moisture on the buds and mich as possible. The plants bud sites are still small so I was just very worried I’d have to get rid of her after getting her to this point.

yeah, i get yield booster at the local ace hardware, they should have it all over, well known product for tomato bud end rot, which happens when they don't have enough calcium. all it is, is gypsum dissolved in water, the worst it can do is leave a little spotting, like after you wash your car. i wouldn't use it on seedlings though, i burned one with it, think it absorbs too fast for them.
i'd wait a few days before i added anything else though, what you've already used will probably be enough. give it 3 or 4 days to work, see if it stops spreading, see if the new growth looks good.

if you've added that much calcium, and it doesn't seem to be helping, check your ph pen. get a bottle of 7.0 test solution, and a bottle below 5 helps, but isn't necessary. at least check it in 7.0 and adjust it if its off.

Great thanks much. appreciate the advice. Ill see what she looks like by end of week. Fingers crossed. I have 2 pH pens and I typically calibrate them once a month (with 7.0 test solution)...as im pretty rough with them. But ill calibrate to make sure. What I did should in theory correct the problem so let’s see. I started her on calcium last watering but it definitely wasn’t enough.

ALso off topic: I have two autos going and two photos. The dark devil is almost done (about 2-3 weeks more) and the other auto (the sour diesel) is the one this thread is about and seems it seems to still have about 3 weeks left at least.

I don’t have another grow space (and I know it’s best to not do this but)...

?: how much will The autos suffer in yields if I switch to 12/12 now since my photos are getting to the point of alarm in terms of height?

I need to keep them under 1.5 (one is about that and the other is about a foot) feet to account for the doubling to tripling in size potential. I only really have about 4 feet from top of soil to bottom of light...if she tripled in size I’d have a slight issue to deal with. Double she would be fine.

She is looking like she is finally recovering from the calcium deficiency. Had to give her a healthy dose of calcium along with other macros and micros. Did the same with the other plants as they are basically grown in the same substrate/medium/soil...

FWIW: looks like she just needed Little more calcium and olnt food and she pulled out of the calcium deficiency.... thx for the help

Hey Ray, I'm interested in your situation here...Glad a dose of Cal fixed yours. Idk if this is my prob tho... I just noticed today that I have a few pistols turning brown as well!? I'm just over 2 weeks into flower on some TGA Dairy Queen. I just noticed it today after i watered last night with RO water and 5ml of Calmg/gal.
Everything about my plants look extremely happy except for a few bud sites on a few diff plants closest to my occilating fan. I have NO spotting that would NORMALLY be associated with calcium probs. Even the bud sites that are directly beside or below the effected ones look completely normal. One bud site is actually kinda brown on 1 side and fine in the other...
Do you or anyone else think this could be due to my fan blowing directly on them!? I have yet to buy a walk mounted fan so space is kinda a issue.
I have 6 in a 2 x 4 area. All were flipped at 8-10" and are now 24" with most lower growth removed.

When did you start counting flowering days?

Calcium deficiency and pistils turning brown are not correlated/connected.

My pistils turning brown was due to bud site maturity and a bit of the bud sites being too close to the light source.

First thing you stated was bud sites were close to os fan, that is a known indicator for causing pistils to turn brown prematurely, along with heat/light stress, touching the buds, brushing up against them etc. and then of course just naturally maturing.

Solution: turn your fan and face it pointing towards the wall so the air bounces off wall towards plants vs directly pointed as plants.

I have a fan on my ground pointed at wall set to speed 2 out of 3. Then I have a standing fan blowing air about a foot over the canopies.

I had a wall fan but it went out and I couldn’t turn down a standing fan for $15 vs a wall for $40. I only run two plants now each time so space is not an issue for me at this time. When I ran 4 plants it was definitely a bitch to maintain.

As of this morning I had 3 plants in space. As of 3 hours ago, I took the sour diesel out of grow space and gave it its first flush and she is now sitting under just a regular ceiling light waiting for me to trim her. I might just keep her out of grow space and under my skylight getting natural sun. I want to make sure the 2 photos I’m running in there (2 critical +) have enough space as they are now in stretch mode...they have been a week under 12/12 now.

Also I’m guessing you know not to but are you foliar feeding during flower? I do when she is still in the first week after the flower flip then I stop so technically she’s still in veg mode

I don’t use cal/mag but I do use vegamatrix boost which is their version of calmag...so I don’t have any experience using calmag and the effects of its use.
