Look at sweet water air stones they’re heavy and won’t float. They’re pretty nice air stone very durable opposed to most you buy at Walmart or grow stores.
I will definitely look at them. I bought these because the are heavy. They don’t float to the top the will just try and flip over at the bottom of the bucket. There is a small hole in the middle so I put the suction cup in it so it will stay centered in the bucket. Not hat it matters if it’s centered. I have a pretty strong air pum to each so all of the water is rolling but not so bad that it breaks the roots.

Good air pumps are a must for the air stones I use due to their density.

I use cylinder stones because they don't float at all, and you don't have to worry about them flipping over, or anything like that. They put out some great bubbles too! Go to Amazon and do a search for "cylinder air stones", and you'll see different sizes.

Mine, with 4" air stones:

Btw I love your set up!!!! I’m just doing two dwc buckets. I have always grown plants in general. I do bonsai trees and all my garden plants. I decided to do cannabis for the fun of it. I don’t even really smoke except high CBD strains for anxiety and cronic panic disorder. High THC stains are to much for me but this first grow is a high thc strain. It will be interesting. My mother in law has MS and she uses medical cannabis88FE7C96-E6BB-4794-9A0E-3FAD75D4F57F.jpeg to help with this. She is on less pain medication because of it. So I said what the hell why not grow it for fun and see how good I do. My babies just started flowering!!!!! They are so pretty!

What is a good gph for a pump in a dwc bucket? I was thinking of running two into my bucket (have one that’s 44 GPH and the other is 50 GPH), but dont want to kill my babies when they gonin there!

For air pumps they generally go by liters per min. I like active aqua. I have several of their 70/ lpm pumps easily does 8-10 buckets comes with a manifold to sites on or off as needed. I also have one of their 110/lpm models which is a shot ton of air. IMO you can’t get too much air unless you beating the piss out of your roots. More air equals less of a chance of root rot developing.

I have one pump per bucket. They are each 10 lpm. They seem to roll just fine. Not enough to kill the roots but enough to keep it nice and bubbly!

I figured out why my girls were being crazy!!!!! Yeap buddy! It was the water tempature. They like the warmer water around 70ish and I had the water I was changing it with at 65. Even thought it wasn’t a huge drop, it was enough to make them sad. When I did the change on the other I made 100% that the temp was the same and it didn’t go stupid!

Be careful the water getting to high in the 70’s can promote root rot.

It normally doesn’t go over 71 mmmaaayyybbbeeeee 72 but I change the water once a week and do H2O2 treatments every time I do a res change along side topping water with ph’d water that has H2O2 added. Haven’t ran into root rot yet. Prevention is my goal!

Good. Personally I don’t run a sterile res instead keep beneficial bacteria high and do water changes maybe 3 times in a grow. It will top off as it gets low on it own I just check ec and ph daily.

They sometimes do that when they grow overnight.... It should pull itself right after a few hours of light.

I have a buddy who lost nearly 3 rooms due to high water temps in dwc buckets... I'm trying to get him to change from GH to MegaCrop and also trying to talk him into Great White as well.. His latest (16 buckets) isn't looking to well either.. Young and won't listen..

I can’t say anything bad about mega crop yet and don’t foresee a reason why I would have an issue. Great white for me is simply an added precaution. I like my water to get all cannabalistic on that dead root material and junk. You should have him read som of the guys reviews on here that have been using it for a bit I mean how can you argue with an inexpensive and stellar product plus I still dig the smell of it lol.
