One of my plants leaves flip upside down when I change res

Good. Personally I don’t run a sterile res instead keep beneficial bacteria high and do water changes maybe 3 times in a grow. It will top off as it gets low on it own I just check ec and ph daily.

i have OCD and would go crazy if I didn’t change it weekly. I know the scare of root rot but what I’m doing is making sure they have the correct amount of nutrients of all when needed. The ppm and ph can look fine but it can get toxic from the exchange of nutrients and the biproducts given off of the plants. I don’t want to think the ppm is fine but it’s just high in biproduct. Since the res changes temp and there are different nutrients absorbed at different levels at different tempatures, I want to make sure they aren’t taking up to much of one and not enough of another. My goal is to have them as potenent as I can. I have my ppm rather high and doing this has kept them from getting any nut burn. Which I mean they are weed plants and can endure a lot of abuse for the most part. Hehe. I’m not growing a bunch of plants so my goal is to have few really kick ass plants. it’s all an experiment to me and I’m enjoying it a lot!

I also have two different grows in two different tents going so I can see what I like best. I have two growing in one tent and two growing in another. One set I’m doing hydro and the other just in soil. The hydro girls have been flowering for three weeks at 12/12. They have a flower time of about 9 weeks and they are already so hairy! I’m excited for them to get done. One thing I have also noticed is since I keep a very good note on my mixture the roots are massive but not overly massive.

I have a buddy who lost nearly 3 rooms due to high water temps in dwc buckets... I'm trying to get him to change from GH to MegaCrop and also trying to talk him into Great White as well.. His latest (16 buckets) isn't looking to well either.. Young and won't listen..

Ha, I would be sad if I lost a couple of grows. The one thing that I’m lucky for is the fact that I live in Cali on the beach. And the side of the mountain I live in it never gets really hot nor really cold. Plus since I use LEDs my temp in the tent doesn’t get to high. So worrying about the temps getting tooooooo high isn’t as much as a worry as long as the dwc temps stay no higher than 72. I also have a mini dehumidifier in my hydro tent so the humidity doesn’t get to high. It stays around 40%. Which I’m also lucky the humidity stays relatively low here where I live anyways.

I can’t say anything bad about mega crop yet and don’t foresee a reason why I would have an issue. Great white for me is simply an added precaution. I like my water to get all cannabalistic on that dead root material and junk. You should have him read som of the guys reviews on here that have been using it for a bit I mean how can you argue with an inexpensive and stellar product plus I still dig the smell of it lol.

I started using MegaCrop 2 weeks ago and have 0 (Zero) complaints.. Awesome growth in veg for both my dwc and coco. I run very cool water in my dwc (61 - 68 ) Plants thrive but they do not wave at me? They smile

Yeah I check ph every day. I keep it right around 5.8 and no higher than 6.2. It is pretty good about not fluxing to much. It’s 5.8 and by time for res change it’s about 6.2

i have mine at 1200ppm in flowering!!!! I had them at 500 in early veg and aggressive veg I kept them 800. When I transitioned them to flowering I went to 950ish. Never had nut burn or toxic res. When I went into flowering they were 18 inches now they are almost 4 feet lol.... in like 3 weeks

Thanks!!! I like that chart! I feel like they are all equally important though! 65F has the most dissolved oxygen in the water where anything over 72 drops significantly for dissolved air. No matter how much bubbles you got the water at higher temp cant absorb it. Same thing with going too low. Less oxygen means less ability to use the nuts. Like I said, this is my first grow... I’m by far not even close to an expert nor a novice... I’m a super beginner but my brain is like a spinning wheel and I consider all aspects lol. You could call me bat shit crazy hahaha. I am a woman though so I have an excuse

I find with mega crop I’m actually feeding less to be effective. Mine are about 3 1/2 ft but the main stem at the net pot ga gotten ridiculous. Bigger around than a quarter! And then some lol. I’m the same I’m ocd and I work as a network engineer and going to school to get another degree in botany which is fun because now I can use it and apply it towards my hobby.

That’s awesome!!! And congrats on pursuing botany. OCD tends to be an engineer trait Lmmfao no pun intended!!!! My ocd is from... my genes I suppose because I’m not an engineer. I do though have an accounting degree and everything seems to be math and numbers. I have never done mega crop but time will tell. My potted plants drive me bonkers.... I like to see what’s going on above and below and I can’t.

in hydro, whenever you change the res, try and make it gradual. The more abrupt the change the more they will react negatively to it. Usually a 0.2 ph drift per day is tolerated. Sudden nutrient changes also affect growth, so when you are switching nutrients' npk ratios and their quality, also do that gradually. It is something that I give more importance now after I discovered it the hard way.

Will do for sure!!!! They seem to be tolerating well. I figured different strains tolerate different things I swear they get bigger each day noticeably. The ph drift is one thing I haven’t really worried about. The ph drift is typically .4 in a week. I have to add about a half gallon of water a day to them. I keep the ph at 5.8 in my top off water. So if they go up a little it brings it down a tiny bit. My next strain I’m growing is on the opposite spectrum of this one so I’ll keep in mind this since they may be different to their liking!

The regular ph swings that occur alone were never a problem. It was when I intervened bringing ph down or changing fert ratios when strange things happened. Things like unexplained symptoms that are sporadic. On a bigger scale with many strains at once gave me a good identification of the problems. Plants seem to partially adapt to the feeding. Your maintenance plan sounds good since you are keeping things moderately stable. Also sudden temperature swings can do strange things do your best to get the added water at a temperature that is not sharply different from the discarded ferts water. Stability is important IME.
