You mean cut the dark roots? But if I cut, I would need to cut almost all, coz they are all kind of dark...

I didn't cut any of mine but they basically just fell off on their own lol. I just treated with a double dose of hydroguard and it cured what was about to be a dead run. The cause of your issues is still an unknown (my issue was root zone temps between floods) but if water is cool (under 70) then I would suspect not enough added DO like suggested. With two air stones running the plot thickens.

Your air pump is rather small that is your main issue. There’s not enough DO in those totes. Generally you want to figure 10lpm per plant. So meaning three plants you need a pump that’s able to supply roughly 30lpm.

I moved 9 of them to coco coir perlite mix...
Washed all of containers with cloride. Added an air pump per container, so its 4 air stones now and 2 pumps per one container. Added 3ml per litre of 3% h2o2 to solution.
See how it goes

Are they both still 7 lpm pumps. Look at something like this for the future.

This is a pic of a rootball i got slime on in a single bucket setup

I cut the roots off about an inch off the bottom of the pot and in about a week and a half .
My roots looked like this
Now shes doin just fine

This roots look absolutely awesome compared to mine

I just stack the whole thing in coco... Lets see what will happen, cant still really figure out how often to water because of this rootball

I missed the size of pumps , got the rot though lol. I tend to forget about air pumps as I ditched them after a few months and went with water pumps instead

Right now I’m doing water fountain lol. The root chamber (tray) is about 10” high and the water is pumped up and hits the lid as well as causing a huge surface turbulence but yes I did use a water fall effect in one of my setups. I had spray nozzles pointed at the surface but had the odd clogging so ditched them. I found air stones had some effect on PH stability, I probably didn’t use a proper size air pump as well

I wish I had that problem, even in the colder months my res water pushes 75, same as room, and if it’s consistently there my roots, while not turning black, do suffer. When I ran nozzles (LPA) my root zone temps were killing me, getting upwards of 78f between spray cycles. I saved that run by adding chilled water and ran a continuos spray cycle, plants loved it after they recovered. That was the last time using LPA lol.

best thing about basements is the constant floor temp year long

I had to learn a new ball game when i got out of the basment lol

I’m in a shed with a very well insulated plywood floor, my plants are directly above res in the setup I have now, still trying to decide what’s next . But yup cement floors do offer cooling effect, I have no basement lol.
Edit: my chiller in winter is an underground glycol loop (250’) with heat exchangers to chill the circulating water to each res.
