Is This Over-watering Or Light Burn?

This is my first grow. I am wondering if I am seeing the after effects of over watering or if this is light burn.

• Soil - FFOF w/Perlite (80/20 mix)
• Nutrients - None
• Pots - 3 Gallon, fabric
• Light - 300w LED (prob not really 300w but appropriate for my 2'x2'x3')
• Temps - 68/72, humidity 38-42%

Plants started grow at about 2' from LED for first two weeks (thus the apparent stretching). I detected yellowing of leaves a few days ago and realized I wasn't letting the soil dry and also realized the plants were too far away from light source so I moved them up.

I am now seeing dead spots on some leaves.

Again, should I be concerned (too much light now that light source is closer?) or is this just the result of having been over watered? Thanks.

Nah, to me, i think you got your leafs wet is all,

but you do need to get your Humidity up around 65-70ish and temps should be 82F.

Veg likes sticky, hot weather, bloom likes rampdown of hot-to warm-to cool every 3 weeks, Humidity 75-60-40 rampdown every 3 weeks

Thanks. Looking at options online I think I'll try hanging a wet towel in the tent to increase RH until I can get a desktop humidifier at WallyMert.

Looks like they are being over fed and burnt in the medium you are using. Brown spots, edges is nute/salt burn.

How do you water CocoLoco? IDK either i dont think.

"its Coco, water everyday" People told me when tryin to find out. But on the bag, it says dont have to water as often.

So, PH 5.5 or PH 6.5?

Treat like soil, or treat like Coco?

So, today, I decided I might go back to PH perfect AN nutes, to take guess work out of PH problem. I didnt water for 2 days, and looks best it has in weeks.

So, IDK man, Finding answers to simple things, isnt as simple it seems.

Changed Nutes, PH Perfect today. 700PPMs, MegaCrop was 400PPM, being almost 100 days old, and 5 days in flower, Im guessing not enough food.

Probably not enough light either, lol..

@InTheValley I had a lot of problems with coco loco and I treated it like soil .. One thing for sure if your gonna use MEGACROP u need to add cal mag since fox farms doesn’t add enough I have found this out personally I use Greenleaf Nutrients MEGACROP also and I’m doing five grams of MEGACROP with 5 ml’s of flowering calmag because it doesn’t have any nitrogen in it since MEGACROP is rich in it already .. In my opinion if u wants use fox farms soil do a 50/50 mix of happy frog and ocean forest with perlite.. Did u pre wash the coco loco I didn’t and it caused a lot of problems cuz of salts in it????

You treat it like coco. PH your nutrients 5.8-6.0 and dont let it dry out

Hey Tx, Plant looks much better today since I used the PH perfect. But i used 3/4 dose, and 1G of MegaCrop as a supplement, per gallon water, BUT for got to add my calmag. Man, I was only using .5ML of calmag, so I will add more todays watering. As for pre-wash, it says it was washed 3 times, but I did do a PPM check and it was like 1300 i think it was, will check again today.

Hey Abe, great grow thus far man, lush..

I will now be more consistent on the watering daily then. I have another small container plant, hopeing for a Male to cross with my FireOG growing. But anyways, That plant, I have been treating like soil, letting it dry out. that Cocoloco gets light as a feather, lol.. Just did it to see the reaction because I wasnt sure. Growing like a weed tho, lol..

@InTheValley i personally like he MEGACROP it keeps from having to mess all kinds of nutrients it’s an all in one but u know what your girls need I’m subbed for sure to see how it turns out bro good luck and Happy growing... Umight have needed to up the MEGACROP though especially being in flower I just pushed mine to 5.7 grams and it was too much I noticed a burnt tip so I will be dropping back down to 5.2 grams and 5 ml’s of cal/mag I wish fox farms wouldn’t have changed there formula I’ve noticed a difference in the past year or year in a half.....

No problem. At that age you should only need to water every couple days. As the root ball increases in the container its going to dry out faster. Keeping it at least damp and allowing some runnoff will keep them happy. Soiless systems like coco are very similar to hydro.

I now believe that the cause may have been low air temps (avg temp 66 [19C]) and soil temps (<66) during their first 2 weeks of vegging which may have prevented their ability to absorb essential nutrients ( magnesium?). I have raised the plants closed to the light and thus increase air/soil temps to avg 70+ which has rapidly increased growth.

Raising the bed closer to the light increased growth nearly overnight. The increased light and heat from the lamp made a huge difference. I also began hanging wet towels in the tent to increase humidity. This only raised humidity slightly. Next time I will use a clear plastic dome of sorts to act as a greenhouse during veg.

Take aways:

• Ensure space humidity is 65-70%
• Keep lamp adequately close to early plants to ensure proper heat and light exposure.

Man, I have a male plant, in cocoloco that i pollinated my fireog with a few days ago. I havent watered it in 9 days, and still looks fantastic. Its not in my grow area, its in my cold, dark basement,lol.. I was going to chop it, but wanted to see how long it will run without water. Been 9 days now, and not one single flaw on it yet.

pH for Coco is 5.8 to 6.2 - go beyond that or under 5.8 and you'll have issues 100%

Coco coir should be watered every day to keep it moist... If you have good Coco coir mixed with Perlite then you can water every day with good aeration and drainage. For the 1st weeks of a seedlings life do not supplement other nutrients, at best a half dose of Calmag with water and nothing else.

Treat Coco like Hydro as thats basically what it is.

Before going straight coir. I used to mix 50% peat moss aswell.
It kept my ph right around 6.
It was just the expense of the peat moss, that steered me away.
Peat moss is a great buffer for coir.

i hear ya Cookie, I havent watered my Cocoloco in 4 days, and it looks the best it has in some time. i have a going experiment with the loco. water every day in 1, and water when light for the other, seedling stage, first set of leafs on both. Water everyday is 1 inch taller, and the other, ( 1 watering thus far )

my male pollen chucker still, no water for 12 days, looked like it was perfect. I finally chopped it down,lol.
