Well you don't, I kinda mispoke. I really meant to say that it is way better to use a rapid rooter than a RW cube because the drip ring will keep the cube soaked and well its downhill quickly from there.

Yeah - my ph tester is off - big time, but I’m thinking about getting the setfrom Bluelab - (it’s both the ph and ppm meters and they measure the water temp too.)
Oh, and @Homie Da Clown - yep ... I’m all about easier, cheaper and cleaner methods!!!

I don't run DWC I Run Drain to Waste in coco
but I have been running CNS17 for many years and it has always given really great results with ease of use, mixes clear, very ph stable and well overall costs next to nothing
$25.00 per gal and at the rate in dwc of say 10 ml per gal......very cost effective
I turned Homie on to it and I don't think he has looked back

I know.. Micro is dark nasty stuff. Will stain anything including roots.. Ya you need a good meter and you need it asap. This is the one I got.

I actually ran root riot, rock wool, and peat pods all at once to see what would preform better and the peat pods where the worst with rock wool second. Your right re holding water but if on a continuos drip they all hold it. It took me a bit to drop the floods down, thinking they would dry out but nope. Once I get decent structure I can cycle pump or run continuos with no real discernible difference. Also I start at 5.6 5.7 and let it slowly rise over a week or two depending on stage. I never add back or top and just change out as need which again is 1-2 weeks, sometimes 3 if I get lazy and there’s still water in the res. I assume the res on the water farm bucket is quite small?

Well I would say properly calibrate the one on hand first lol. I’ve spent loads on Hanna, Bluelab, Oakton, the best one so far was a $30 eBay one, I may have lucked out but calibrate it once a week just to check and it keeps going, I do drive em like I stole em though, care is not my fortie lol.

I am about learning to raise beneficial bacteria and process them into powders, anytime your ready for a little fun...
Honestly I needed to finish getting my systems set up but i procrastinated AGAIN...
Now its time for the OKC-GS game.. OKC thumped them last game! Could be preview of western conference finals.

I'm late to the party but from what I've read, the issue regarding not being able to PH test with the waterfarm without pulling out the hydroton tub. The blue tube is supposed to be used to turn downwards to drain. That's how I'll be testing my PH. Does yours not turn down? @cjsbabygirl313

It does, but my buckets sit directly on the floor, which means draining enough out via that tube is difficult at best. No worries though, the problem is resolved

Not to take away from thread but pretty useful info for op would be the application of beanies . I just wish they were easier to get here 
. +life does not seem to be . I’m thinking of trying the supplement packaged for human consumption that contains Bacillus Amyloliquefaciens which I can buy on Amazon CA, although chilling the water has stopped any bad stuff growing in the res. But with no proof I still believe it helps with plant development in hydro .

Well folks - the littlest baby seems to be responding to the nute/ph fix from last night - at lease she SEEMS a bit better (her leaves are more “out” instead of being held up in surrender).

the easiest way to allow for changeouts would be to build a small table for the pots to sit on
say 6"-12" off the ground
that would make it easy to change out with that tube

- If you look at them 2 pics, what do you notice right off the bat? How wet the plug and the hydroton is compared to the dwc bucket. If it was me, i would put the WF (waterFarm) on a timer for 5 to 7 days. I want it to dry out a little so the roots will push out like theyt do when they are searching for water. I would do 3x day for 15 mins... Just my opinion...
