If you want efficient LED, you'll have to look into COBs or strips. There's an LED section in the indoor section. I got enough information there to build my own LED COB light that is just as bright as my 600HPS while consuming 300 true watt. It's much more expensive though.

Also, you could try switching to CMH, their spectrum is much better and so are much more efficient. You could match you 1k HPS with 630 CMH.

The first led rig I bought was a King. It looks like they just did a different layout using the same diode count and wattage of my rig. It has enough uumph to grow a single plant of decent yield but any more footprint is where it suffers. To get any real benefits from lower heat loads, you have to use current tech diodes and that can get pricey if you have to buy a completed rig. Plenty of discussions and diy guides on this site to peruse...

ive always been curious about cmh... they for flower as well? temps im not looking forward to pricy however im prepared to make the proper investment. Im looking to pull 40 lbs plus per yr. but my ability to keep temps down in a high heat area is tough. I can currently cool only 3-4000 watts hps in winter which is simply unacceptable to achieve my projected yields at that rate I can only achieve about 12-15 lbs. I have the space just not the cooling ability. and I refuse to put a noticeable mini split in. if I had the cooling ability and wasn't worried about electric efficiency id do 8000 watts 3 areas no problem. I just assumed led was only way to achive full benefits. Also switching to hydro next clones also dealing with a max plant count of 24

what is a comparison to look at in specs when looking for led im really kind of lost. I mean how do I know if it will truly match a 1000w watt? since these companys lie their asses off

I have the king 1500w. Ive got it in a 4x2x5 tent and it doesnt get above 80 when the light is on. Thats a really small area, so if you've got more room and proper air circulation/ventilation, heat wont be an issue. I haven't taken this light through flower yet but my buddy has the exact same light. Only his is in a 4x4 tent. He runs 4-8 plants at a time with just the one light and pulls hella buds. Thats why i bought it.

Hella buds as in comparison to a 1000w ? Has he takin his thru flower?

I would be ok with that with the power consumption and heat savings. Just run more of them... I'm trying to replace a couple 1000s. If you could check with him it would be much appreciated!

Check out the LED subsection in the indoor growing forum, the answer to the "1000 watt HPS equivalent LED" is in there.

currently using it can't really give you results but for my 2nd LED i'd say i enjoy it for the cost. waiting to see how my plants fair under it as they are currently in week 2 of flowering. the ONLY major issue i have with these lights is 1. it's fucking heavy; states 12 pounds. i don't have a way to hang them properly so what i did was i used command hooks to hang it up. 1 hook in particular keeps falling off and making the light hit the wall. im surprised it didn't break yet. hook fell off twice now. 2. i have to keep the lights around 20-24 inches from the plants. tried 18inches before and they taco'd on me. now i just go 24" high then let it grow into it about 20"

light is fucking bright as hell too.

that is my plants take into consideration im new at growing this is my 1st indoor grow and 2nd grow overall. these plants were heavily abused with all sorts of experiments. missing 1 plant which is outside that i grew under it as well but we are trying to see that one. plant looks weird like that because i LST'd them and then removed the ties weeks ago so the tops are all uneven.

I use zip ties and rope ratchet hangers.. Nwver had any issues at all... Can provide you with a pic if u like

i used some cheap ass i think it's copper plated wires but yea next time im using zip ties for sure hard to LST for me because im using smart pots and they are so flimsy. i mean it worked for some time but i just wanted to remove them to see if they would stay in place but nope they didn't as you can see the results XD. it was an experimental grow though tons of bad stuff went on with the plants so at that point i was like fuck it.

i don't like zip ties though because then i might have to put a lot because im not experienced but from this grow i had to continue to move the main stems lower and lower at the tips so it would be leveled out with the rest. thus why i like the ties i can just rearrange it.
