Curious to see how much nutes people use during feedings to get a better understanding on how to make the best brew.

The type of nutes and ppm of your water would be nice to know aswell to see how much calmag you add.

Veg week 3 and onward for veg
Medium: coco
Water: tap@60ppm
Nute brand: fox farm
Ratio per gallon: 3-4 tsp big bloom, 1-1.5 tsp grow big, 3-4 tsp calmag

When I was vegging my goji og x chocolate oranges the leaves were turning light green when giving them 2 tsp each of big bloom and calmag per gallon. It seems like I use a lot more than other people so I'm curious.

Once I gave them 4 tsp each of big bloom and calmag per gallon they turned healthy green but with ever so slight mild tip burn barely noticeable.

I think 3 tsp per gallon big bloom and calmag is the sweet spot. I use less grow like 1 tsp per gallon to be on the safe side, the schedule says 3 tsp.

It's funny cause the fox farm hydroponic schedule says 3 tsp each per gallon of the big bloom and grow for veg. So big bloom full strength seems on point and it's the only organic formula maybe that's why.

But I don't trust the 3 tsp grow. I'll prolly up it to 1.5 tsp grow for an even 1/2 strength and ease up on the calmag to about 2 tsp per gallon which is still double the amount recommended calmag (tap is 60ppm).

I would really like to know your witches brew and what strain your growing and if it's a heavy feeder or light feeder. The goji og x chocolate oranges seems like a heavy feeder and I heard the goji likes calmag which seems to have turned out true.

I'm seeing really good results in coco with full strength organic big bloom, 1/4-1/2 grow, and double calmag. Week 6 of veg with minimal light and they are bushes lol. Running out of big bloom so I just ordered a gallon of GH micro it was pretty cheap.

If you like organic tell us your organic witches brew lol. I know you like your teas.

It is not about using one, rather use as many as you can to make sure you feed the widest range of elements. (why I also recommend kelp as seawater has a shitload of elements in, even gold).
Every element can activate one gene which activates one enzyme and so the chain continues. The more complete the menu of feeding elements are the closest you will get to perfect expression of the pheno.

Fermented green tea really?! I'll look up how to make that. Heard a lot of good things about kelp. A grower on YouTube says he has to have it so I'm going to check that out I wonder how it is in coco.

Coco is ok but I'm wondering if I should switch to soil. Peat moss/perlite mix is super cheap for a bail. Fox farm soil and pro-mix is sorta expensive online.

I dumped my bail of pro-mix in the backyard when I was on a break it would take up space in the big tote. After that I just ordered coco bricks from petsmart it was cheap, reusable, and didn't take up a whole big tote to store. Although I am liking soil for simplicity so I might switch back .

The guy in that video mentions using comefry and banana flowers. Eggs for egg shells and green tea I have lots of lying around. Banana flowers for potassium sounds like a good idea it's hard to get that nutrient in bottled base nutes.

The main gist of Lucas formula is 100N-100P-200K regardless of fertilizer. But since he started it by using the GH Flora series and people are well people (wanting it to be easy), comes up with 8ml micro and 16ml bloom. If you break down the ppm nutrient components of those two combination, it comes up pretty close to 100-100-200 formula.

The GH feeding chart is based by the manufacturer but if use say 5ml micro and 10ml bloom...the nutrient ppm component fell short of the Lucas formula, hence the 8ml micro and 16ml bloom.

Fertilizers are fertilizers...they are made up of macro and micro nutrients......don't let the "grow" and "bloom" term confuse you. If you really want to mix your own nute then I suggest for you to research anything about NPK and the micro elements.

I have used miracle grow fertilizers, orchids fertilizer, kelp, heck....anything......the whole point is to get your ratio close to 100N-100P-200K. Meaning to say, it doesn't matter what your fertilizer is.

It depends on your seedlings or to be safe you can start at 1/4 strength then see how your seedlings react to the nute until you reach full strength. So at 1/4 strength your ratio would be 25N-25P-50K per gallon of water.

As I've said you can use any fertilizer or brand of fertilizer doesn't have to be gh.

For example your fox farm tiger bloom has this ppm in 1ml/1gal

N - 5
P - 9
K - 8
mg-1
B -.05
Cu -.12
Fe - .3
Mn - .15
Zn - .12

So lets say this is your 1st fertilizer and we apply the Lucas formula. Among the nutrients, this fertilizer is high in Phosphorous ( P =9 ). Lucas Formula calls for P=100. So to get there, you gonna need 11ml of Fox Farm Tiger Bloom (9 ppm per ml per gallon x 11ml = 99ppm/gallon). You have to multiply the rest of the nutrients by 11 as well.

Overall, 11ml of Fox Farm Tiger Bloom will give you this ppm/gallon

N - 55
P - 99
K - 88
Mg - 11
etc.

Your ratio so far in ppm is 55-99-88
Lucas Formula calls for 100-100-200

Clearly Fox Farm Tiger Bloom is not enough. You need 1 or 2 more fertilizers to mix that are high in Nitrogen and Potassium to get close to
Lucas Formula. The fertilizer you need to mix with FFTB doesn't need to be a name brand....any fertilizer (including fertilizers from Walmart, Home Depot) as long as they are high in Nitrogen and Potassium will do.

You're paying for the hype with these name brands.

Man, i'd like to help you but I'm not gonna make the mix for you....I can only point you to what you gonna need....

1. read up on NPK
2. breakdown your nutrient into ppm (you might need a nutrient calculator)
3. once you have all your fertilizers in ppm, you can mix them however you like.

I had a ppm meter but the stupid thing got stuck on the same reading when calibrating it. All I needed to know was the ppm of my tap water to know how much calmag to add anyway. It's useful to see where your at but not necessary.

I grow in coco
I use dry nutrients and mix them myself. It's just calcium nitrate, monopotassium phosphate, and micronutrients. I don't have to worry about the need for additional calcium with coco because I'm using calcium nitrate for the nitrogen source and that provides all the calcium I need. I never use calmag. The micronutrients have more than enough magnesium as well. I use fulvic acid during veg and add magnesium sulphate during flower for the extra sulphur because I do think it enhances the smell and taste if given properly at the right stage of growth. Most bloom enhancers are just monopotassium phosphate and magnesium sulfate anyway. Look at the labels on those additives and see what they're derived from.

I use VitaGrow
PPM's in veg are around 700
PPM's in flower are around 850
That's using 3/4 of what the label says to use. I never use full strength.

I used to use a PPM meter but it sits idle now. The measurements I use were always withing 10% anyways. I do however check the PH and calibrate my PH meter regularly. PH is critical when growing in coco. Get that wrong and you will have problems.

Depending on the soil it can be testy...
Coco with a bit of vermicompost worked in is an easier compromise. Keep treating it like coco, maybe feed a tiny bit lower PPM.

Well not necessarily if you like paying for the label and give them control as to how much fertilizer to give to your plant.

On the other hand, if you want to know exactly what you're giving to your plant, in what dosage and have control of the nutrient intake of your plant then yes, ppm and ec is your tool of choice.

Just look at this forum, how many postings do you see asking for help because of deficiency or toxicity problem because the grower is not aware/unsure of what he/she is feeding the plant.

Bottomline, you have to ask yourself...what type of grower are you? You like it easy? Follow their feeding chart. You like to have control? It's harder but the result is rewarding.

Quick question, how do you know the tiger bloom label is for 1 ml it doesn't say. Tiger bloom is 2-8-4 you said the p=9 per ml. Did you mean 8? So when reading the back of a nute bottle the npk is always per 1ml?
