I once threw a handful of gravel at a bunch of doves and hit the one, it was injured and I kept it in a box in my cupboard until it died the next day.

When i was a kid,
My friends and i used to steal pet guinea pigs fro my neighbour. We used to keep em inside 2 stacked car tyres in the yard. Never did find out what kept happening to em. Stole one about 6 times.
