A new lawsuit accuses Walmart and Dick's of age discrimination for refusing to sell a 20-year-old a gun.
AP
  • Tyler Watson, 20, of Oregon, is suing Dick's Sporting Goods and Walmart for refusing to sell him a .22-caliber Ruger rifle within the past two weeks.
  • The lawsuit accuses Walmart and Dick's of age discrimination.
  • The retailers recently raised the age restrictions for firearm purchases to 21 years or older.
Should they be able to decide not to sell to certain classes of people based on race, religious beliefs too?

His father likely encouraged his son to assert his American rights, expose the discrimination, maybe even knows the lawyer. c'mon, you're smart

Maybe if that "kid", who can't even buy a beer, asked his father to buy his rifle, there would be no problem.
But, he didn't, maybe because the father knew his son was a danger to society.
How's that for an argument?
dads that know their 18 year old boy is a danger to society have a responsibility, a huge one, to report this danger they've produced at once, you know, to save a life possibly.

this particular boy has never been medicated with ssri's, never in trouble with the law, no police at his home, I hope he gets as many guns as he desires soon, I'll donate one of mine to this fine young adult if he's listening.
He makes me proud.

no. this is not age discrimination like it would be for employment. this has to do with safety concerns..safety and welfare of the public..not of the little pukehead.

that any attorney would entertain this is scum of scum worst ambulance chaser ever and a pig!

someone who KNOWS him doesn't want him to have a weapon..says everything..the age limitation is already working.

perhaps it saved 17 others we'll never know about..we won't know though, because it will never be reported.

I am sure there was a reason to deny this person a gun at 20 years old, There is more to this story than it seems, "Sure of that". he was doing something that made the sales person Nervous..... So Good for them... They may have saved Lives because they took action. I would rather see wal mart in court then People mourning the dead shot by some Person having a bad day. Until we can help those with Problems instead of letting them go on without help we will continue to have People making a Short term Problems that causes long term outcomes They can be helped with a bit of compassion and Thought. Our Government has stopped helping those by closing all Mental Health facilities, but sure Open more Prisons, I MEAN WTF. Until we become aware of the Problems that tose have we can't fix anything. IMO Close half the Prisons and open more, Mental Health facilities. .

If you see someone depressed don't be afraid to ask them, Is there anything I can do to help ? A kind gesture can be helpful and stop a misfortune or tragedy. Most times People just need to be heard, that can go a long way.....

+rep:clap:

we've stopped caring about our human capital and are more concerned with financial capital. privatization of anything concerning rights and laws should be abolished it's our own fault though, we didn't do anything once we learned that cops have revenue quotas.

how can we walk this all back?

no, the seller was interviewed and said they were following dicks order to not sell to anyone under 21. The law says we can purchase at 18, the store ignored this law. they discriminated against this purchaser only because of his age admittedly. he passed a background check too.

this type of discrimination is covered by our civil rights, like a private seller deciding not to sell a cake to gays, or guns to blacks, this is an illegal practice.

the store could have legally decided not to sell any guns or ammo to make a real statement, but selecting certain protected groups of people, singling them out and refusing service/sales has been illegal in this country for many years thank gods

get facts straight please. there is no secrets on this one. an obvious set up of course, but succinct none the less.

In your previous accounts you cried because gay people were not denied service though
