I've never seen a single strain that didn't show preflowers in veg. I've only grown maybe 50 or 60 strains so I guess it's possible but I'm pretty confident in calling BS.
Am I flowering?

So question about light leaks before I go into flowering. Im wondering what the threshold is cause I' growing in a small cabinet with everything completely air and light sealed except the passive intake vents. I have a carbon filter sheet over those and they are at the back of the cabinet about 4 inches from the wall. The room the box is in gets daylight bright but so does just about anywhere in my place where this box could possibly go. Pic of my cabinet below with my old blurple LED, running a 3500k quantum board now. I suppose I can put my cell phone in there and record a video to see how it looks.
I think your seeds came from a hermaphrodite, if it was street weed you found them in. I think the secret is in good seed stock.
Im not gonna vouch for anyone else, though i have never to this day, touch wood, have had any herms indoors in the several grows ive done indoors.
I have had them outside though with different seeds, several years ago. To be honest, im inclined to believe the "seed is the seed" at conception on the tree. Thats when the plants fuck after all. Im a huge pollen chucker. I havnt had a hermie yet out of hundreds of seeds. On a side note Cannabis is part of the family "Cannabaceae". I have been told that other plants in the family can hermie at will. But i dont know for certain, i havent grown any.
I think keep an ear open for a family member/freind that deliberately pollenate/choose their plants to make their seed stock. Or if you can, where you are, shell out and buy some.
I dont think you should give up on your grow. Just treat it as a practice run, while you find some good seeds. And when they finish atleast youll get a bit of hash out of them.

I wasn't trying to be rude or confrontational. It's just that I've never seen or heard of even a single instance if a plant not developing preflowers. I expect you're usually flowering plants from seed a set schedule and some just don't have the time in veg to produce preflowers before you flip them.

While I have been running seeds lately, I grew clone only strains for years and I should have said that some strains barely ever show sex. I have vegged ver months without seeing a pistil.
But to call bs so fast was a surprise to me, that's all. No worries!
Sometimes you won't see any preflowers even if you veg for a long time.

A lot of plants have preflowers that never develope pistils like a flowering plants will but they still have underdeveloped individual flowers.

I understand what you're saying now.
I also didn't have any calyxes at nodes either.
Just regular branching.
I'm not trying to convince you or anything mate, just letting people know what I have seen.
It wasn't one plant either, it was entire crops.

Hey guys, question about continued care of the 4 "fem" plants. Since I should no longer top (turns out the plant naturally split into two tops on each of the 4 nodes without a topping somehow so I have 8 total per plant) is it ok for me to remove some of the fan leaves on the bottom near the second split? 4 leaves per plant. I will do a little bit of LST and tie down my 8 tops into an even canopy but I'm just wondering if removing those leaves will cause any sort of unwanted stress or if it will benefit the yield and whatnot.

Indoors it's ok to clean up the bottoms of your plants, but understand that any defoliation will cause stress and reduce growth rate temporarily...
Usually adding veg time.
Some people train their plants through veg to withstand heavy defoliation but personally, I try to keep it to a minimum usually.
It's a controversial topic on here hehehe

No all strains will show preflowers once sexually mature. Even they remain in veg.

I changed my light schedule to 12/12 Monday so I technically am no longer in veg. Is it ok to still remove leaves? What about lower level bud sites? I mainlined my plants and they began showing preflowers after the 2nd topping which brought up this entire post. I was told not to top again which works out anyway because the plants naturally split so I have the 8 tops. Im ok slowing them down a bit I just dont want to stress them too much and make them hermie. Since Im not dealing with purchased seeds (found em in my buds) I am trying to play it safe but at the same time I just want the main colas an no larfy shit taking energy away down below.

That's a great thought pattern around pruning! So many growers just go wild with it and learn after
I would probably trim small amounts at a time, but...
I find it very beneficial to leave just about all fan leaves attached, and just pinch off the new growth shoots above the nodes. Just gently remove developing bud sites and leave the foliage for best results.
If there is too dense of a canopy, and it literally looks like a bush that you can't see through, that would be a different story.
I hate leaving small budsites, so I'd trim it... but there is the distinct chance that it could be a bit too stressful and potentially cause complications.
Imo you're the only one who can tell how healthy and fast your plants are growing. Just remember to be objective. If you would tell a buddy not to risk it on their plants, maybe you should listen to your intuition. You develop a real feel for it after a bit.
