Growing Blue Dream in NW Oregon

Hi all,

I was contemplating germinating a blue dream (HSO) seed that I got as a gift this year and growing it outdoors. I was wondering if anyone else has done this before? From what I have read, this strain does exceptionally well in California, but the furthest North I've ever heard of anyone growing blue dream is in Southern Oregon. I personally love this strain, but I don't want to grow something that will perform poorly at this latitude (45.5 N). I plan to grow using super soil in 25-gallon fabric pots this time around.

If anyone has grown blue dream in an area like this and has any advice, it would be much appreciated! Also, I've tried using plastic sheeting in a poor attempt to shield my plants from the rain last year (specifically during the later part of summer) and am looking to try something new this year if anyone has any methods that work well for them. Thanks in advance!

Btw...I never covered them...they went through rain and wind and everything mother nature through at them. Just give them plenty of room room.
I started those in late Feb and planted end of may ... they were in 200 gallon holes. Harvested mid October and let them go through 3 frosts before I took them fully down.

Like maybe 1 or two buds per plant. Tho it was the wettest summer/fall I've seen in years here. I did a staggered harvest to be safe.

I grew 6 hso bluedreams outdoors, I live in vermont. Last year we had an extremely dry and warm fall and I still ended up with bud rot. I will not be growing this strain again.

I had a pretty good yield 2+ from mine, huge colas but a little weak for my liking. It would have been tough to finish this plant without the GH, I'm at the same latitude as you.

I appreciate all the comments and photos! It looks like I may not grow it after all. I don't have the ability to keep them in a greenhouse for when it gets really cold/ wet here. I'll just stick to growing another strain. Thanks everyone!!

Well I was hoping for a little more info on this thread. I'm just across the river from you Shorts and was hoping to find something that would pique my interests for this years grow. Been thinking about a 25'x30' Hoop GH. But I need to keep digging to know how many pants can be grown in something like that. lol

Live in your neck of the woods.... pick another strain. BD will do fine here but there are far better choices.

Don't do it!!! HSO Blue Dream sux. True blue dream is clone-only! The HSO strain is nowhere near blue dream. The company is a complete fraud. You need to find blue dream clones, or come to Santa Cruz and get local cuts from a dispensary.

Real blue dream packs a punch-just smoked a joint of my local Santa Cruz cut. Uplifting and tasty-my daily driver. Of course, there are more exotic strains now, but BD, the real blue dream, is by no means low THC.

Chernobyl did well for me last year- no mold/mildew at all and it was in close proximity with another plant that had PM. Maybe not the strongest, I'd estimate it at ~18-20% THC. It smells and tastes wonderful though, and is very satisfying

Friend up here grows blue dream, it turned out awesome last year. just north of Washington state. Forced flowered them .
