i think some of these companies do it in house as when i worked for a huge electrical comp there were people in house that had the qualifications to issue certs as it does not make commercial sense to send everything off for testing
they have a cert that means that everything they make meets the standards and so they can put the marking on there products , i will send a few emails though and do a bit of research into this

Its paperwork mainly. DOC with applicable directives and proof the standards required are met [VLC,EMC,ROHS] /schematics/handling and safety sheet/instructions.

Its time consuming so easier to just pay a company to do it imo.

Yeah its less than a grand depending which directives and how much you want them to do.

Generally, CE marking is a self-certification process, but some directives specifically demand the involvement of a Notified Body. Their word is basically law on determining whether a product meets the requirements of the directives or not.

so you dont realy need to worry too much as long as the comp has a qualified person to do it

but me reflowing in my kitchen would work though lol

its also prob why you dont see one massive board with 5000+ leds on , im just wondering if you make a light complete if you need it for the light as well or just the components inside

No even if all components are CE once you have created a new part composed of the CE parts, it has to be re-certified.

You can't have a factory be CE certified for electrical components. The component can be CE certified and then you can mass produce that exact same component and they will all be certified.

CE can be done by you but you better make sure that every thing complies with the directives and you have a valid technical document. If someone where to injure themselves and it is because something is not to standard you'd be in some serious shit. The reason I have been skeptical of boards is if you don't have a protective lens it is easy to get zapped, Working in the grow room and bump the light with elbow or some one not the brightest raising light by placing hand on LES of boards etc. Most people don't give a shit but it just takes that one person to raise a lawsuit.

Can anyone confirm if those diodes are real deal? And those PPFD meassurment is pretty as fu*k, are numbers correct?

I can confirm ppfd reading for single board test since I have done that test using apogee sq-520 borrowed from vendor.
I was at his shop yesterday, while he was taking measurement, so I have seen it for a while ( just test with fixture at 18 inch, than I had to leave).
I also shared some picture with other member here on riu, but posting is too complicated

Copy pictures to computer and go to https://imgbb.com/. Upload them and copy link to this thread. Simple and fast process, no excuses. Right?
 
Well...I am not vendor so I test it for myself (of course I wanted to test if vendor was right about what he was claiming :bigjoint: ). HLG do not post any test for over 1 year but people trust them about their ppfd reading. Maybe you can ask vendor some picture, but I do not feel comfortable about posting

ledgardener does provide measurements and is a reliable person.

We could be sure HLG uses lm561c S6 diodes as chilled does.
The rest of the boards from alibaba suppliers aren't bad, but we just can't be sure how they are made. Since I can use basic english and I already did purchases from china in the past, I prefer to buy "fake boards" directly from the supplier in china rather than paying more for the same item.
