I wanted to get input from everyone about what method , trick , tip , technique you have found to be the FASTEST and MOST RELIABLE way you personally found to take and grow clones. I been growing for a long time but I suck at cloning , I can do any kind of regular growing ( water farm , coco , soil , Hempy , etc. ) but when it comes to cloning , it is weak sauce.

I have had minor success with cubes and rooter plugs , but percentage is low for effort ...

This is already a known method ... But it changed what I plan to do from now on.

I did a " water bottle clone method " as a cheap way to do. I did NOT EXPECT what happened in about 8 hours.......... Not Days ... I took cutting this morning.

I took cutting ( GORILLA GLUE ) today at about 10:00 am . Used a water bottle with PH 6.5 TAP ( chlorine vapored off ) the night before then used a " mix " I thought might help.

It is now 5:45 pm and it threw roots .......
I will probably be called out on this but I am 100% serious. I thought I would be looking at DAYS not hours !
I have NEVER had any way trying to clone work this fast ! ... No root hormone .

I was going to get an aero cloner like most people but since I don't need 12 clones at a time , I may take maybe 4 usually.

So I wanted to share and listen to others about what works for them .

I do have a Progation dome and tray setup , but it has been mothballed as of today.

I've done rockwool, bubbler, and water only...all works 100%

Here's my take on cloning

1. Transpiration (extremely important)
2. Temperature
3. Relative Humidity

All those 3 should be dialed in regardless of system.

1. Transpiration.... A cutting is a live plant...and will continue to transpire. Your goal here is to minimize plant transpiration while you're waiting for the cutting to root. So how to minimize transpiration on the cutting itself? Remove most of the vegetation (including flowers), leave 2-3 fan leaves (for photosynthesis). Furthermore, cut the leaves in half. Why? The bigger the leaf surface, the greater the transpiration, we just want the minimum leaf surface for photosynthesis. How else can we minimize transpiration? Next step.

2. Avoid intense light source (direct sun, too close to your 1000 watts hps). Temperature...in conjunction with the 3rd factor (RH). The hotter the cuttings are exposed, (again) the higher or faster is the transpiration.

3. Relative Humidity. As much as possible bring RH as high as it can be. High RH in conjunction with Temperature will bring vapor pressure difference to the very minimum thus slowing transpiration. Dome, white plastic garbage bag. In Bubbler or dwc or water only, you might get away without controlling RH because there's a steady supply of water. If you want to go this route, I'd recommend the water to be oxygenated or root rot could occur.

That's pretty much it, there's really nothing to cloning.

@Xs121 totally - although, I've never had ANY issues with leaving a lot of foliage on the cuttings... i think priority for baby clones should be: #0) low light intensity (use t5s at height), #1) temp, #2) RH, #3) patience: It's not about sprouting roots in uner 24hrs, but more about strong root set within a week, then transplant.... :)

Seriously ..... I REALLY am shocked and I swear I cut it THIS MORNING.

All I did , was vape off a gallon of tap water .... Last night , I leave a gallon out the night before my girls get their feed. Then I mix their food.

I dunked an empty bottle to fill , added 6 drops of Clonex " liquid " solution .
( tall black bottle ) , took cutting , cut extra leaves off and dunk it in bottle.
That's it .

Don't know if you see the white dot but that's a root and same with a few other spots. I only clone like this and it's a method I've had 99% success with so I believe yeah!

Genetics matter as well for how fast you pop a root but I must say that root in a couple of hours is amazing. I have one strain that takes 3 - 5 days before it can move to veg. I pretty much have 100% clone success with all my strains but I don't care if it takes 10 days in my DIY aero cloner, some strains are faster then others.

Since i grow in soil mix, I've only used coco pucks or mixed soil in starter trays, and have had 100% every time. Never cut leaves to minimize transpiration either. In fact some of my cutting have been scary big:

As long as temp humidity and light is there you should be good. I’ve tried many things but generally I just take the stem of the clone, and chew on it for a lil, and plop her in whatever then put a dome on it..... easiest part of growing

I do have a Progation dome and tray setup , but it has been mothballed as of today.

I don’t wanna be a dick , but I don’t see a root , I see a pistil and some outter surface scuffed up.
I would be interested to see the clone right now and in between.

I can get roots really fast in my DIY cloner but it’s a pita, I hate cleaning n changing water every few days.
I like rockwool , less work.

Does anyone put cuttings in 24 hrs of darkness before they dip in their rooting compound & medium, or I been doing this for 30 plus years for nothing lmao ,with 100% success

I cut the stem on a 45 with scissors or a blade then into a glass of water , till I’m ready for the next step, anywhere from a couple minutes to a couple days .
I soak my cubes in water , then drain
I mix some root powder with water , stick the end in, then into the cube, on a tray .
I put a layer of vermiculite on the bottom that’s been wetted to help RH , heat mat under the tray. I don’t mist , I don’t use a dome. Just keep rewetting the vermiculite when needed .

Most clones I see failing is from being too wet in medium.

I usually take double what I need. And keep the 1st to root, garbage the rest.
Keeps things moving along at a good speed

@Budzbuddha can you verify those were actually roots you were seeing in the OP photos you showed us?
