All of my seedlings keep dying , what am I doing wrong ?

Hi ,

Second time im posting here , i'm trying to figure out whats wrong with my seeding because of the yelliw-ish leaves and the slow grow ( i planted this march 11th).

-Soil is mixed with perlite , ph of the water mixed with algagrow is at 6-6,5
-Temperatures are 73 with lights on and 53 when off.
Right now I'm using 5 6 and 8w LED bulbs sitting at about 13-15 inch from the seedlings.
I was using cheap knock off version of the Mars 300w but that gave me the same results so..

I must admit my drainage is actually not that good when i water them , but the soil stays pretty wet for a long time but i water every 2 days..

I really get stressed out becasue im checking it everyday and every time i see my crops dying..

Is it the temps that are fucking up every plant i planted or the soil that needs more perlite ?

If theres anyone that could help out and find a solution would be highly appreciated

For starts only water when they're dry

You absolutely positively have to bring the night temperature up at least 10 degrees, (and the closer to at least 70 the better) consider using propagation mat, space heater or whatever cuz you're going to need to raise it permanently

tell us about your soil

get your p h to 6.5

I don't know what algagrow is but I would stop using it

I don't use LEDs so someone else may tell you if they're close enough

Some pictures just won't load on my phone? .. and unfortunately yours won't so I can't see if they're damping off but even from what I could see their way too wet

My soil is universal growing pot soil mixed with some perlite in it and some basic NPK ( can't get any soil with no NPK in stores over here where i live)

I'll stop with the algagrow. But do you know what these symptons are that my seedlings are all getting yellow at first , turn yellow and brown and die afterwards ?

This ^^^^^^^^^

IMHO,
You're frying them.
They only have taproots, for the first several days, after breaking ground.
Its the roots that spread out in the media, that are the main feeders.
They dont have enough root structure, for anything but water, that young.

The temps dont help at all either. Should be a minimum of 21'C.
Low humidity's a huge killer too. If your medium is too strong. On top of being cold.

Try leaving the lights on 24/7 until you get the heat situation worked out

Won't that mess up with their photosensitive in veg period ? currently doing 18/6

By frying them you mean by heat or soil ? Or are you saying that it's too cold and has too low humidity level ?

Is that why these plants turn brown and shrink ? This my second grow

I did my frist one in my closet and did fine i got a better tent now and better light but it sucks that it's going bad every single time..

Hot soil. Combined with cold, and low humidity.
All three.
Your environment is way out of whack :peace::peace:

IMHO
For seedlings,

Humidity 60%
Temps 25'C, constant.
Just water, until first true leaves show.

Is it because my tent is mainly too big for now as they are seedlings and should i put them into smaller grow location like my closet ?

Becasue i cant get a constant 25c with lights off since its winter over here and pretty cold outside and cant heat up the whole tent to that number

Whatever is holding your environment back.
You need to fix it.
Whether, you get some humidifiers, and aircon. Or not.

"I must admit my drainage is actually not that good when i water them , but the soil stays pretty wet for a long time but i water every 2 days.."

I think this is your main problems here...no way they need water every two days at that age...and you need more perlite for drainage...g/l

Winner winner chicken dinner...

This thread is a hoot lol

Seeds dont need heat or a dome to pop

Stop over loving them to dampen off :)

That is it ,no hot, no cold

Just stop over loving them

Next time get a 4 inch rockwool cube soak it .

Shake it out till it almost feels dry by weight shake dont sqeeze.

Plant your seed in there and dont touch unless ut gets too dry (you think it is but it isnt :))

Watering every two days? You drowning the poor little things as well as freezing them. My plants are three weeks old today and I've only watered them twice since they broke ground.

I don't mean this in a wise-ass way, but you might want to think about what you just said very carefully

.. my point is you can't pull a wagon with a dead horse.

And by that I mean you're worrying about things way down the road and at this point not relevant to your situation

But I don't hear you worrying about your freezing conditions or you're drowning plants, and talking about changing those conditions?

(And I respectfully disagree strongly with the gentleman above that said don't worry about heat or cold)

Everyone's told you 1) you're drowning your plants

2) your freezing your plants

but I see you talking about a bunch of other non relevant stuff (like your photoperiod) imo, instead of those issues

In my opinion Tim was exactly right in one of the first posts, seedlings have very little root and cannot take much water, the gentleman above said he watered his seedlings twice in several weeks, I've got seedlings I haven't watered in a week and they're still far too wet

All that aside you're not going to grow successfully in the cold. Mature plants barely grow in the cold, and seedlings just sit there trying to develop roots, but they can't because of the cold, and where you keeping them soaking wet they're going to eventually drowned and die, they are going to freeze and die

.. bottom line is unless you change at least those two conditions immediately you will not have any plants that survive, at least not to the point where you'd notice
-good luck.
