A very long and wordy way to say I have no right to be discussing which is better between a gavita and an hlg because I haven't the slightest clue because I have not used either .
Congrats
I havent mentioned HLG in the last 3 or 4 posts bro. I am explaining why I prefer my LED strip lights, which I DO have, over those Gavitas which my friend who I essentially grow along side with uses. But I guess that doesnt count, nor do all the pics online of gavita grows.... I have to use them myself to know how they grow right?>........
Like others have said, it's just fucking lights. It's nice to converse back and forth information, data, and experience with each other, and if something works better for you, then great. But for me, and a lot of bleeding edge commercial growers, LEDs are the way to go.
I will straight up say now that it takes 750w of LM561C diodes (qbs/strips) to equal the PPF output of a 1000w DEHPS light, just to clear the water. Not the 620w I said waaaay earlier here.
Spectrum, technique, and all kinds of factors will determine if a grower pulls the same yield using both lights. But low temp white LEDs pack mostly red ,, followed by green light, versus DEHPS which outputs mostly yellow, followed by red. Red and green are proven to be the best for photosynthesis (green only in bright white light), and there's a lot more of it in the spectra than DEHPS has.
So theory (I know you hate that word, but you can go cry about it then) says that if the PPF of these white LEDs is the same as DEHPS, the LEDs should be able to yield more just because the spectrum is more suited for optimal photosynthesis.
