How "dangerous" is pollen?

I am going to be collecting pollen soon, and was wondering what input anyone could give me on how risky it is of pollinating a flowering plant nearby? Is it safe if just the fan is off, in my little grow area outside of my separate tent, with a flowering plant inside of the other tent? I am concerned about accidentally pollintating my female, and it having seeds in her at the end.. my goal is to get seeds, but not affect the mother plant, essentially. I will be forcing a cutting into male, and collecting the pollen, but the timing will work out that I will have the larger female flowering at the same time.. and I fear that the pollen will be an issue.

How far away is safe? Can the pollen easily be in my shed, flowing around, and get into my tent if the male is in the same room? If I move it inside my house, will that be okay, or safer? I understand about changing clothes, and showering.. but I have not heard much about the pollen moving about in the air.

Pollen can travel easily on the slightest breeze.. but its not that problematic if precautions are taken.. when I did any breeding indoors I don't let my males fully flower.. I careful watch the balls and cut the ripest section off and bag it in a Ziploc... This starves them for air then the balls open.. at which point I wipe qtips in the pollen and bag them to help keep the pollen contained until I wipe the qtips on the selected sites I wish to seed...

I use a very similar method to collect the pollen, but I hadn't thought of storing the q tips. I will have to try that.

this long time grower I know keeps the males outside (females inside), collects pollen from the plant, then sprays the male plant with water to kill any loose pollen that settles on the male that could somehow makes its way to the fems later. Then he takes a shower, changes his clothes, uses different shoes, and only then does he take the collected pollen inside to fert the fems. Sounds kind of like overkill, but he came to this process through trail and error and found what works for him.

yea, once you seed an entire garden by accident, you kinda pay more attention, lol...

I grow in the bush, so a shower is not possible. {Unless it raining, then it's not avoidable} But in 2015 I had a plant named Berry Patch that I didn't plan on breeding since it was so small. But she turned out to be the best smoke I grew that year. I was happy to find 3 seeds when I was breaking up the bud for smoking. No other plants close, so the pollen hitch hiked in on me.

I've used 4 different strains of pollen on one mother before. I take the mom out of the grow room to the shop, cover her with a garbage bag if she's big enough but make a little slit to stick one lower branch out of. Get my vial of pollen and using a model paint brush or fuzzed up Q-Tip dust the buds on that branch. Let it sit in the shop overnight then mist down everything with water. Rinse and repeat until you're done all 4. Doesn't seem to hurt the plant getting crappy light for a few days then it goes back into the flower room 'til she's done. Her colas are as big as her sisters so no harm done. Shitload of free seeds tho. :)

Enough pollen in there to make a million seeds.

i'm going to be taking my first crack at breeding this grow around. you make it seem much more feasible than I"ve been thinking it will be. well not really breeding, just seedmaking I suppose. I'm not doing anything groundbreaking.
