Fixing root rot: Hydroguard v Southern Ag Garden Friendly Fungicide

Pictures would help to determine how far gone they are. Way back when I had these issues, I removed the plants in question and hosed of the rotted parts, made fresh nutes and let her rip.

Rot problems are typically associated with water temps too warm. If your grows are small 1-2 plants per container, consider switching to an outboard rez= F & D. That allows the grower to monitor/adjust the rez (temps/pH/EC) without disturbing the plants

That 5-6*s is critical. I swap out blue ice paks to keep < 75*

f that's not doable, then aerate the hell out of it otherwise you will be battling root rot

Awsome
What kind of nutes are you running with it?

I was waiting to hear before i got some to see if it was cool in a rdwc set up with synthetic nutrients
MaxiBloom Lucas Formula. It's not clear like Hydrguard. You will see it cling to the roots. Shit works GREAT on Powdery Mildew!! A gallon might be a bit much unless you have a regular garden to use it with. Really liking it.

Nice to hear i just didnt want to put it into a super aerated rdwc and have it turn "sour" lol

The gallon i was talking about is the hydroguard
Which is on sale.

Just making sure its hydo and sythectic nutrients friendly :)

How cloudy is it?

Hey guys I started a 60gal 6 site RDWC and i got an 8oz bottle of it from ebay delivered to me in Canada 4 weeks ago. I threw my 1-2 week old from seeds into the system 2 days ago. My temps are 63 to 70f.

This is my first time doing hydro coming from soilles potted.

I am adding this as a beneficial and preventative VS hydroguard thattI readrl about but this is 10 billion per ml not 10 000 like hydroguards dilution.

I have added 3ml to my system which is tons more than to probably need. Not sure what my water change schedule should be right now. Maybe I'll try once a month.

I will get a journal going soon.

I am addressing root problems in my first ever hydro grow and seek counsel from those more experienced please.
These two products are similarly priced, have the identical active ingredient, but at very different strengths according to their labels. So different that I question if one of them has their numbers mixed up.

Hydroguard: bacillus amylolquefaciens 0.038%
inert ingredients 99.962%
Recommended usage: 2ml/gal

Southern Ag: bacillus amylolquefaciens 98.85%
inert ingredients 1.15%
Recommended usage: 5ml/gal

If Southern Ag's numbers are correct, it's roughly 50 times a better value than Hydroguard. And then the dosage sounds wrong!? Who has experience with either or both of these products, and what can you offer to clear this up? Thanks.
I saw root rot I knew I wasnt providing enough o2 in the root zone,
I added more and the issue was fixed and didnt return.

OK so this may have been a bad idea. I had a nice sterile rez and i added that 3ml and within 10 hours everything went downhill. Water smelled like dirty aquarium, brown slime everywhere. I hit my 60 gallon rez with h2o2 for 5 hours and then drained and cleaned best I could spraying with 6% h2o2 and then scrubbing what I could, obviously pipes couldnt be and there was some remaining water in the pipes. I refilled with fresh solution and added a small concentration of h2o2. 4 days later and I seeing clear/light brown buildup at the pipe in/outs and roots.

I have noticed plants droopy and slowed/stunted growth this week. prior to adding this stuff they were accelerating.

Not sure what to do? There was probably left over bacteria from the 3ml/60 gal but at a very dilute amount. Is this slime the good stuff from AG and i should not try to sterilize and stunt more growth?

What where you using for a sterilizer?

I only had problems in the buckets that i was running bleach mabey i was using too much.
Was giving 4to 8 drops per gallon

But i dont have a clorine meter.

But i cut the old roots off and everything is back on track with the hydroguard :)

My theory is i over oxidized the roots?

Then they died off just started getting the snot so i cut em off and new pearly white roots have taken over has to be the hydroguard

I tried the Southern Ag vs Hydroguard and the Southern Ag does not seem as concentrated at all.
Hydroguard performed better.
I did a little research and they are not the same strain of bacillus amyloliquefaciens.
Also it is not possible for a bottle of liquid to be 98.85% bacillus amylolquefaciens.
