1st time outdoor growing wanting to go organic?

Hey all, outdoor newbie here and let me 1st start by saying......wow there is an overwhelming amount of info and I'm having a hard time following or choosing the right path for me! I'm not here to get info on outdoor growing but rather what to feed my girls outside. So I want to follow the k.i.s.s. method and dont wanna get to crazy! So here's what I have and maybe you guys can point me in a good direction.


I will be growing 1 plant outdoors in a greenhouse in a 10gal smart pot using FFOF. I have and breed my own red wiggler worms so I have a really good supply of worm castings and I have some azamite. Will this work for my outdoor grow or will I need to add some other things to my soil the keep her happy along her journey to my bong lol? Any help would be great but I'm not trying to break my bank and again I wanna keep it stupid simple aka k.i.s.s.

Well for as basic as it gets compost and ewc!! But some kelp meal alfalfa meal Will help a lot!! Ffof is great soil to start but towards the end of the grow it will be depleted of nutes! But if u want absolute minimum and don't mind sacrificing try to grow a cup winning plant top dressing with ewc and some good compost will get you a long way! There are tons of things to read and Lear in this site I've been on for about 2 years and still haven't found it all! But I suggest first decide how far deep you wanna travel down the rabbit hole!

I would also suggest looking into compost teas! I love then and super easy! To be honest I could name 20 different amendments to add to your soil! But of u really want absolute minimum! It would be for me! ewc, compost, kelp meal, alfalfa meal, azomite, and some source of calcium!

I'll post a link that says my full ingredients and what and how I do that I've learned from many other guys on this site!

I've changed a lot since I posted this but it an OK place you can start until u decide how far down this rabbit hole you want to travel!!

For simplicity in the past I have started
In ffof then at the local grow store they
Had pre bagged cheap dry nutes.

Cant even remember the name but Im sure most stores would have a version.

I just scratched them into the top of the soil a few times.
For 1 plant its gonna be inexpensive

worm castings from a home bin are a great start... but will not be enough to get you through to the end with the FFOF. the azomite is fine, but not a significant source of NPK, more a source of trace minerals.

honestly if you get the Down to Earth brand tomato fert, some oystershell flour, and Kelp, that will definitely get you everything that you need to get you through to the end with just water only. Add about 2/3 of a cup of kelp and tomato fet, and 1/4cup of the oyster shell flour to your 10 gallons of soil, stir it all up, get it moist and let it sit for about 3 weeks (turning once or twice a week) before planting into it and you should be good to go man.

one key thing with organic soils, do not water to the point of runoff. when you have runoff, you leach nutrients out of the soil and that is not good. so add just enough moisture to wet the soil well, but not have run off. Also mulching the top of your soil with some straw, leaves, or something else will help prevent evaporation. dry soil is micro organisms worst enemy because water is important for motility and nutrient delivery in the soil, as well as cellular functions for the biota of your soil.

either one is fine. and actually, the dr. earth is probably better for your situation because they put beneficial organisms in it. so yeah i'd go with the dr. earth for sure. and EWC = earth worm castings.

What's the difference between ewc and red wiggles or composting worms?

worm castings are the products of both of those types of worms (which are basically the same worm... there are a couple different species), there is very little to no difference
