Application received February 12, 2018
Called on April 17, 2018 and was told that they haven’t gotten to my application yet. How hard is it for them to look at the applications that are being processed that day and see what date they were received rather than acting like they don’t know how far behind they are? Plus, a friendly email every week or two to those who are waiting would be nice. Would free up all the time they’re spending answering the phone and giving the canned response that “applications are processed in the order received”.

I wish they would just put what date they are on in the voice recording- that would have helped me during the wait!

It's frustrating to wait, but many years ago I had a temp job for about a year assisting with a pilot social services program for the state. It was 3 real state employees and maybe 25 temps with box after box of application files. One of the state employees just answered the 4 phone lines telling people our estimated turn around time (which was a ballpark guess). Another guy just opened the mail and made file folders for each case because there were so many that took 8 hours a day with a building backlog.
The atmosphere wasn't the stereotype of state workers - we'd all compete for the most applications processed, with their data entry being another team on the other side of the room also competing for the most completed. It was a daily thing for bragging rights, not anything official.
Since we went a couple years without a budget, I'm sure funds weren't allocated for additional jobs to handle the workload, and doing anything other than evaluating applications (such as assessing the day's pile and evaluating dates, emailing status, etc.) would probably add more weeks to the wait time.
I picture their office being very similar, but without new funds to get some temps.

I'm 8 days behind you. And got an email on Monday. Saying they had started processing my application. My check cleared the bank this morning. I was told through a friend that works at local dispensary. That applicants in Southern Illinois are getting quicker turn around. Than applicants from up state. Due to the lack of patients in the south. Apparently only about 20% of cardholders live in the 618 area code.

No. I just received an email yesterday stating. They have started processing my paperwork. So hopefully very soon for me.
Congratulations! My application was received on Feb. 12 and I’m still waiting. They must not be processing applications in the order received as they keep saying....

Thank you!!! You were right! How was your first visit? Unsure what to expect!
I bought an ounce of Durban Poison, because, well, why not have an ounce since I can? Then I bought some Hash Coins-I love those. And some Chocolate, big mistake, goes WAY too FAST! LOL 48 hours to Visit 2.

HI!
submitted app online on 2/9.
I called today (4/18 ) and the very nice lady who answered said it has been received and approved. So I will stalk the mailbox for the next 15 days or so. Looking forward to some nerve pain relief. Thank you for being here and helping with the wait!

I already did the app and paid back in February. I’m trying to see if I am a qualifying patient on the website. It’s askifn for registration number... I’m wondering if it’s the same as a persons ss# or a systems generated number.
When you log in to the https://medicalcannabispatients.illinois.gov >click Online Services> instead of clicking verify, click conitnue/create and it will tell you that you can not start another application due to being a qualifying patient.
