Swiming pool or aquarium ph suplys

Can I use swiming pool ph up and down to ph my water for the plants. Another question can I use fish tank ph strips to check. Is there any differance in those compared to what I get at a grow shop? After all isn't it water all the same?

Use aquarium products or hydro products but I don't see why pool products wouldn't work.

Thank you for the feedback. I checked out your pics and that's a real nice setup coming along there. Are you getting ready for a big grow. I've never seen a compost maker before. That's pretty cool. Well anyways off to the store I go again. 2,500 $ later.

Can't anyone tell me if I can just use swiming pool ph suplys???
Wouldn't see why not, just make sure there isn't any added chemicals in there with it.

And don't use the ph test strips. They are worthless. There's no way to get an accurate reading of your ph, and you need accuracy for your plants to get the most out of it. All the test strips do is give you a VERY general idea of your ph.

Check the net, there are places that sell $30-40 ph meters that will work 50 times better than paper.

No prob bro. just tired of paying when I could be playing, so I found a partner and the adventure has begun. I'm ready to have mass amounts at my disposal.

I went to pet co and picked up a ph kit with the little vial and the ph up and down. Works good I can see though why the electronic one is better because of it's convenience. This grow I'll manage. Thank you guys once again for the feed back

Don't use muratic acid or any other pool acid for ph down on your plants. Just don't. A bottle of propper ph down for growing is cheaper than throat/lung surgery... Ph up for pools is usually just sodium bicarbonate (baking soda), so that's likely okay....

Muratic acid is just fine to use as a down. Baking soda as an up is a horrible idea. The sodium bicarbonate will build up and wreak havic in the medium. And pool shock in hydro to combat root rot.

If I spent $2,500 setting up my grow, I'll be damned if I trust one of the most basic tests of growing setup viability to pet store stop gaps.

Methinks that this is a less than ideal thing to be cutting corners on. Let me be clear tho, you can make it all work and produce.

Either way OP, I hope ya sort it all out and have footballs dragging your branches overbongsmilie

Really? Pool Shock!?! I always though Bromine/Chlorine were bad, hence why folks age their tap water?

Low concentrations of either will harm beneficials if they are present. But really do not harm the plants. Chlorine is actually a trace element used by them.

As far as checking PH imho for me I only use GH drops. I notice you don’t have to calibrate the color of drops or worry that the drops may give you the wrong color.
