Looking into getting a viparspectra 900watt led its right in my price range that I can comfortably spend right now and just wondering if any one has any thoughts or comments about the way these lights perform
^ What he said.Well, it isn't a 900 watt light. It's a 418 watt light. And though it will certainly grow plants, you'll probably be dissatisfied and will end up spending a little more for something much better, later on. We see questions like this almost every day, and the advice most of us give is that these old-fashioned blurple panels are better left to the past (and really weren't worth it then either). But that's typically not what the questioner wants to hear, so discord follows...
Honestly, you would be better off with a 600w HPS than with that Viparspectra. Or you could save a little more money for something far better. Do you require a pre-built, or would you consider building your own fixture?

thats a poor choice then, puts off as much heat as hps for a given amount of lightheat from the lights making the space to hot is my primary concern
So four and a half feet is the upper limit of your space?Taking into consideration that it would have to hang a little bit right around 4 and a half feet and i checked them out unfortunately they are just out of my price range right now on a tight budge
You probably won't need much more than 200 watts in that space. Buy HLG's 260w Quantum Board kit and dim it down. Only a little more money than the Viparspectra, but so very, very worth it. Low profile too.I don’t know much about hps besides the fact that they usually look very large and cumbersome because of the hood and fixtures they are in which limits the little space I have even more and I’m not sure how I would go about venting the heat out but is one of the newer quantum boards really worth it I could only afford one of their smallest ones at this point think it was around a 240w would that actually put out enough lumens to grow enough to justify starting off with one of their smaller boards at first

If you have 4.5 feet of height. A 150, or 250.- 300watt hps would suit you just fine. It'd be way cheaper than a viparspectra too. Well within your budget. And for the record I myself would never try to put one of those together no matter how easy they say it is definitely not comfortable trusting myself to do it with my abilities
Yes, this is also a great option. Cheap and simple. As long as he can vent the heat, a 400w HPS would suit that space well. But if the space can't take that much heat, he might as well spend more for an LED that can do what the 400w of HID can do, but for less wattage/heat.If you have 4.5 feet of height. Honestly I'd bet a 300watt hps would out do my vipar.
If it's your first time growing indoors, IMHO just go the safe route first with hps. Then save some money, and do your homework for your next investment.
I bought my cooltube, 600watt lamp, ballast and inline fan, for half the cost of my vipar.

What would venting the heat out really require could I just vent the other end back out of the closet and into the roomYes, this is also a great option. Cheap and simple.
