Viparspectra thoughts from people that have used them

Looking into getting a viparspectra 900watt led its right in my price range that I can comfortably spend right now and just wondering if any one has any thoughts or comments about the way these lights perform

Well, it isn't a 900 watt light. It's a 418 watt light. And though it will certainly grow plants, you'll probably be dissatisfied and will end up spending a little more for something much better, later on. We see questions like this almost every day, and the advice most of us give is that these old-fashioned blurple panels are better left to the past (and really weren't worth it then either). But that's typically not what the questioner wants to hear, so discord follows...

Honestly, you would be better off with a 600w HPS than with that Viparspectra. Or you could save a little more money for something far better. Do you require a pre-built, or would you consider building your own fixture?

Simple advice-If you have the ability to get rid of the heat generated by a HID rig, then go with that-it's cheaper up front and gives dependable results. If heat is a problem then using current tech diodes will allow you to use less energy to get the same amount of photons-just costs more up front. Plenty of info out there to step through the mine field...

I have no experience with anything of that sort diy that is and that’s why I have leaned towards led i have a very small closet space and heat from the lights making the space to hot is my primary concern I’m working with maybe a 3ft w by 2ft deep closet space

Taking into consideration that it would have to hang a little bit right around 4 and a half feet and i checked them out unfortunately they are just out of my price range right now on a tight budge

I don’t know much about hps besides the fact that they usually look very large and cumbersome because of the hood and fixtures they are in which limits the little space I have even more and I’m not sure how I would go about venting the heat out but is one of the newer quantum boards really worth it I could only afford one of their smallest ones at this point think it was around a 240w would that actually put out enough lumens to grow enough to justify starting off with one of their smaller boards at first

DONT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!

I own a Viparspectra 900w reflector series. My hps dimmed to 400watts smashes my vipar.
Save your hard earned money. Buy something better. Just a little extra cash will make all the difference.
Their 3 year warranty is a total con too.
My diodes started dying after about 12 months. I tried to claim warranty. They wanted me to pay for shipping, to return the light to the factory in China, to get repaired. I was told by them, I had to send it away to get checked over before they'd replace it. Also that it would likely take a few months. WTF?????
They're the worst!!
Stay the fuck away from Viparspectra.
You've been warned.

So four and a half feet is the upper limit of your space?

You probably won't need much more than 200 watts in that space. Buy HLG's 260w Quantum Board kit and dim it down. Only a little more money than the Viparspectra, but so very, very worth it. Low profile too.

I’m very new to all of this so I appreciate any and all information regarding these topics I’m just a little surprised are these 200w quantum boards really going to out perform the 300w of blurple light I have to the point where it’s worth it I’m honestly just curious as a first time newb

And for the record I myself would never try to put one of those together no matter how easy they say it is definitely not comfortable trusting myself to do it with my abilities

^^This place will put it together for you ($305 if you DIY, $330 if they build it for you). And yes, this will absolutely outperform your 300w blurple. (This is a 260w light, not a 200w light. But once you switch to a light of this quality, you'll probably discover that you don't need much more than 200w in total; these fixtures dim.)

If you have 4.5 feet of height. A 150, or 250.- 300watt hps would suit you just fine. It'd be way cheaper than a viparspectra too. Well within your budget.
Honestly I'd bet a 300watt hps would out do my vipar.
If it's your first time growing indoors, IMHO just go the safe route first with hps. Then save some money, and do your homework for your next investment.
I bought my cooltube, 600watt lamp, ballast and inline fan, for half the cost of my vipar.

Yes, this is also a great option. Cheap and simple. As long as he can vent the heat, a 400w HPS would suit that space well. But if the space can't take that much heat, he might as well spend more for an LED that can do what the 400w of HID can do, but for less wattage/heat.

What would venting the heat out really require could I just vent the other end back out of the closet and into the room
