The klx Way!

I been thinking about turning the wife on to a vape setup. I think she would like it better - she doesn't really like the idea of smoking, but often its the only way she can get some quick pain relief. But I really have no idea where to start. Not looking to spend a ton of money, but I would need something simple for vaping flower, rather than the e-liquid
I recommend going to youTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4iwyju9jGc-3LV8XCIyK7Q
PuffItUpTV - Randy tests all the vapes personally live and well worth the research.
His method is through a glass piece with ice in the stem, but also direct pulls.

They even tear them down for you... because they ALL need service eventually...

Personally I like a log desktop vape that's ready when I am...

I'm still not clear on what makes a vaporizer a "log"? What model do you use/recommend? I'd like to get into a desktop unit, but it's an indulgence I can't really afford just now. Do you feel that desktops provide a noticably improved experience over a portable unit?

Chopped the last plant in the test tray today - HSO Green Crack. Annoying plant to grow, annoying plant to trim. Not very good looking. Not many redeeming qualities at all to be honest, smell was ok. Weak stems, it was falling all over the place but it did yield. The smoke test is always the true test but with so many good strains out there, anything mediocre MUST DIE!!!

Dude, my wife gives me the hardest time about culling plants. She loves each and every damn cutting, and literally acts HORRIFIED at the thought of tossing one. She's really cute, but she's got to get over that shit, because I don't have the space for half of the plants she wants to keep.

haha it does get hard sometimes, especially letting go of an old favourite. But yeah, limited space means only the frostiest, most potent, easiest to trim, biggest yielding ladies make the cut...with 1 or 2 exceptions for old favourites haha

It seems you are british, looking at the words you use.
So may I ask, which brand of trays do you use?

Dont get me wrong I still like to burn one down with friends but a quick couple hits on the vape cant be beat especially when trying new strains. The difference in flavour is chalk and cheese.
Noob here.
I always wanted to try vaping to make my lungs life easier but I do not know how to move. I assume you vape your dry buds but is it different than using some kind of e liquid?

Yes different to e-liquid. You just pack your chopped buds into a little vape oven just like packing a bong really, but you vape it instead of smoking it. Instead of burning and smoking the whole cone, you just heat up your oven and breathe in the vaper. Much easier on the lungs!!

What makes it a LOG you ask... Underdog Log Vapes
Mostly desktop models remain plugged in and turned on all the time.
The other in the running was the EPic Vape for temperature control features.

There are many in the $100 - $200 range, reason you want to research a good one.
I started with Magic Flight Launch Box - high learning curve
Moved up to an Arizer Solo - lasted about a year before battery issues but still works plugged in.
Now have an Underdog with a selection of stems and am very happy - but will note that the power cord has been replaced twice.
This is because of the bend point at the vaporizer end and wire stress causing a short. For the last replacement I put on a solder on end that I can cut off and resolder when required.

Ah... one more thing to add...
If you decide to switch to a vape, you need to step up the quality of what you select to vape.
Have had many dispensary batches that either wouldn't produce vapor or exhaust quickly and the tastes were marginal (want to say earthy, dirty).
But a better quality, even better yet - your own product, and vapor is easy to draw.

Got a boundless CFX last year and it vapes great right from the first hit. Big clouds and lovely smell, I could not be happier. Only thing is the battery lasts not over the day but that's probably my fault. Maybe I will change the 2 batteries against better ones.

I've also a destop vape(arizer v4.0) and a 50w subohm mod with aspire atimizer to vape liquids.

There are several brands of wax/oil liquidizers available in the US like WaxLiquidizer(LOL) or LicksHerbalLiquidizer
(1g wax/oil + 8-20 drops liquidizer = 1,4-2ml vape liquid). You can also use CBD liquids as liquidizer especially if you fight against pain. You fall asleep like a baby...
Terpene liquids can also be used.
But I highly recommend to carboxylate concentrates before you mix it and do not use the microwave to heat it up. Better take warm water it disolves quickly and is immediately ready to use.
Some say it's carboxylates on evaporation anyway and it would not be necessary, but that's wrong. The effect is much more intense if it was previously in the oven for 15-30mins at 135-140°C. I prefer 30mins at 135°C. You should see bubbles when it gets warmer, at least when made with alcohol, buthan or another solvent.

To heat the wax/liquidizer mixture, I hold the mixing glass tube in hot water. As soon as it gets warm, it dissolves almost by itself and you can pull it on a syringe. I basically only take 8-10 drops to get strong liquids. Less than 8 drops and the liquid gets too thick, resulting in burned smell.

I've 1,8ohm dual-coils inside my aspire atomizer and vape with 12-16w depending on consistence and such a coils last's ~2-4 weeks depending on usage and watt settings.

Did you buy them in the UK?
Or USA or Canada?
I just got them at my local hydro store. Any hydro store will have flood trays in all different sizes to suit your space. They often have a a couple of different qualities to choose from. I just asked for the best trays they had in 3x3. They are not cheap but worth it imo. I like to DIY as much as I can but I buy trays.

Do you notice a significant difference between the desktop and portable vaping experiences? I'm wondering if it's worth it to get a desktop unit for dry herb.

Yes! To be honest, the CFX is unbeatable in terms of dry herb vapeing. He produce massive clouds from the beginning and is ready to use in about 20sec. The Arizer is already a few years old and needs at least a minute to heat up. I have equipped the Arizer with a nail, with it I evaporate everything wax-like, because the CFX is in this area rather bad. The shitty wax/oil chamber of the CFX is a real disappointment and a fail construction.

So one could say, the CFX is for dry herbs, the Arizer is for most waxy stuffs and the Aspire mod is for ejuice.

Not where I live.
Hydro is so much bigger in the US.
In Europe it is hard to find anything in this matter.

Question... You opened this topic in the LED section and it is mostly about vaping recently.
I think (and hope) that you would start your topic in the Hydro section, because I think there are the real admirers, like me.
Your topic will be an eye-opener for many hydro-growers.

Would you be willing to consider that?

If not, I will just be posting my questions here. Also no problem.

Ah ok. What about ebay? I would have thought there are lots of European sellers who can ship within the EU easily and discreetly?

Yeah I could have started this thread in hydro section, or the grow journal section but I do use LEDs now so I just opened it here. I have not really talked about lighting much in this thread, my lights are pretty standard really so nothing much to talk about, I prefer to talk about plants :)

Feel free to ask any questions you want here this is a free for all thread :)
