that don't look like the de I use,like bighorn said its fine powder like very dusty!not like kitty liter or the stuff u put on floors to clean up spills we r talking foodgrade de an it will lockup ya soil

never used DE before. I want to keep it simple as possible tho.
this idea comes form wanting to protecting against bug infestation form day 1. (creating a habitat that's not suitable for them) I just threw out some beautiful girls that were 3.5 weeks into flower but they were drained from thrips.

honestly, I don't even know if the sand.. (or any FINE powder) would stay in the Air Pot since that's what I'm using this round.

Right ya I've seen the powder and that' not what I use, it might actually be natnic my bag isn' labeled .. my apologies for the confusion and misleading info. After using natnic though it literally eliminated any bugs in my grows for the past few years and I always just put about a 1/4" or so on the top and it stays there beginning to end

Hey op,are you planning on wrapping your pots with pantyhose?lots of holes for bugs to get into with airpots,sand on top won't do a thing if you don't get those holes covered.

If they use sand they have to have some air get to the soil or it'l cause problems and will need burped. If they choose sand it will in return kind of not help bc as you said there will be holes or surface area for the bugs to get to

I place a small piece of yellow sticky bug sheet on top of each pot and have never had an infestation of anything (touch wood)

But I have some no-see-um setting left from covering the vents that I can probably use around the side.

Not a problem.Queen size pantyhose if you're out of netting.
