The differences to me (a dummy who can only read about it) between what is happening in Myanmar and what has been happening in the Gaza strip seem to be very minimal.

From an non Jewish American perspective, the difference in attitude seems to come from the fact that we already have a military stronghold in that region. No reason to take sides beyond a show of face 'human rights' investigation.
