Around 20-25. We had around 50 between two hens. Those eggs were from multiple chickens. That's pushing it I think. Not sure if more could be done.

Counted 23 eggs this morning.. she's sitting on at least two other hen's eggs along with hers.. good to know, much appreciated.. I just thought to myself,, what the hell am I going to do with 20+ more chickens? Lmao..

I had a couple roosters and 6 hens or so several years back. I thought it would be cool to buy an incubator and show my girls the hatching process. Threw 20 eggs in that puppy and out came 20 chicks.

Was not expecting that to happen. Now we have 4 chickens and 4 ducks. Plenty of eggs for us four. You go without eating any for 3 days and you’ve got 24 eggs with another 8 the next day and the next day and the next day.

Yea. Lol. I give a lot of eggs away. We eat a lot of them too.

I had chickens and was sure glad when the last one finally kicked the bucket. What a hassle. They were cool at first but too much work and if you want to go out of town for a vacation you have to find someone competent to let them out in the morning and lock them up at night. I only had three. That's all that's allowed in Portland. Those things sure make a bunch of noise. I have two neighbors with Chickens right now and I know one has a Rooster which isn't allowed and makes a ton of noise in the morning. If I get hungry enough I might just end up having Capon for dinner.

this shape of coop is very similar to a bud drying shed I just saw last week at a buddy's place;

I'm thinking of copying

solar powered and holds a lot of bud

you hang the buds on sticks and hang the stick under the solar panel

Nah. Guinea fowl are loud.

Chickens aren't that much work. I have a big fenched in run I can leave then in for a few days to a week with a deer feeder setup to feed them.

Yes. I do it all the time. If in doubt put the egg in water. If it floats it is bad. If it sinks it's good. If one end floats it's on the line.

Well we have are very first baby chicks/chick.. first one was black and didn't make it through the night.. are second one hatched last night she/he is blue grey with a light grey mask.. so at this rate we are averaging a chick a day..lol.. weird thing to me is I thought the average hatching time was three weeks.. we are now at week 4 1/2 .. makes me think that there maybe some duds in the batch

I raise chickens from egg and Ill tell you that an exploding bad egg leaves shrapnel wounds and an awful taste in your mouth for hours.

Have you floated the eggs? Best to do this around day 15 then again around 21. Make sure no beaks are poking through first. I raise easter eggers so candleing doesn't work too well but if you have white eggs, you should see veins at day 7.

Warm water and any that sink are duds (at 21 days) Any that list on their side and don't wiggle are potential exploders. Don't always assume that a non wiggler is dead, may just be asleep.
What temps are you using? Cool nights may prevent success.

21 days on chicken.....29 on turkey poults.

Best way to do it is to have a broody hen do the work. Watching motherhood on the farm is an added treat and helps keep them alive with much less $$$. heat lamps are expensive but so is losing chicks to rats. A good mother will defend them at any cost.

I'm not sure of the temps, i gave up on the incubator.. lol..... bake,, are bantam hen is sitting on them.. they are white eggs.. we did candle a couple.. one was solid dark with hollow spot on the end, the other one was clearly a chick, was easy to see the veins and fetus.. I smelled some suspicious looking eggs but nothing had any funky death smell.... I'll do the float trick and see if I can find the bad ones.. I'm not sure but I remember someone telling me this before..lol..

Oh one more note.. she's sitting on three other hen's eggs including her own.. probably why I'm having a hard time with the age of the eggs.

My BIL is a chicken man. He has a few of those tractors. The ones for the young chickens don't have to have the egg laying part, so are really light. A dozen chickens will eat every blade of grass inside the tractor in 3-4 weeks. I'm still using on the chicken shit I got from under one big tractor a couple of years ago. But for the most part, he just leaves it on the ground.
