Hps or MH or LED?

Why do most grow ops use HPS and MH? Because it is the cheapest per lumen. Too many variables to consider along with how you weigh cost vs temp control vs room change over vs production....got it?

For comparison where a top of the line hid set up with one if the best bulbs, hoods and ballasts on the market would be around 700 a comparable commercially available led that would cover the same area can easily cost twice as much.

To be clear I'm not considering diy kits at all.

Damn what lights were you looking at to get to 11 grand
It's an extreme example but

The brand is SolRevolt. I realize it's actually quite a bit more expensive than the typical LED. These use separate units for targeting chlorophyll A and B as well as for UV and NIR.

Other brands that aren't so over engineered still add up to around twice the initial investment compared to top of the line hid.

Four Fatty VS from Timber(or the VS+) would adequately cover that area. They would total out around $6000. That's about half what you were originally quoted.

People always talk about the energy savings of LEDs. When LED lighting started taking over, we thought there would be a reduction in energy use
Zero energy savings. These LED lights run warm as fuck.
OP, HPS is very nice. Im sure you already know this. 4 DE's would be perfect for your room. Either 1000 watts or 6/750 watts all depending on your room height. And yes you'll need an A/C just as you would with LED.

The real potential savings in LED is in not having to replace bulbs as often but the price for a quality LED there isn't any real savings there.

I've seen a little info on some savings from cooling because you can run your rooms a little warmer since LED's don't produce unnecessary IR but that was a companies literature so...

I think its cheaper to buy current tech LED's then current tech hps. Im not sold that the tech if fully there yet on current state LED's. Can you show us some of your trimmed up LED buds compared to some pics of your HPS you used to run? This is frighting stuff bro. Some still have patients that their medicine is going to. The patients don't want local legal weed, it's just the facts.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. I have a feeling that you meant to say " 'frightening' stuff" but that really doesn't make any sense.

As far as some still having patients their medicine is going to and patients not wanting legal local weed I've been a medical grower for almost 10 years and everyone I grow far is adamant that theydt rather have my "local legal" weed over almost anything they can find in a dispensary. I think you meant to say that they'd rather weed from a private medical grower than from a commercial rec farm.

Lastly, you asked to see a pic of my LED grown weed and pic of my weed grown under the hid I used to use. I didn't say I used to use hid. I said that I looked at a particular LED system but that the best thing going as far as I've seen is using hps pared with either cmh or full spectrum MH bulbs that include a decent amount of UV.

honestly its how big of a grow you are gonna do. if you can afford the qb route you will save a shit ton on electricity and in AC as well. I took my ac out of my room when I took my 2 600w hps out and replaced them with (yes brighter) 800w of qb.

they pay for themselves. dont buy BS kits, if you are gonna order old citizen or cree cobs go through Kingbrite on alibaba. super respected. 600w cree cxb 3590 kit for 800 total after shipping from china. not shilling. but wasting a bunch of money on heat bulbs is soon to be something in the past.

The gardens overall size doesn't have any bearing on it since the cost per square foot of a particular design doesn't change with scale.

Well one might get away with one hps without AC but 6? gonna run into heat issues. gotta factor in cooling cost over time you are running to energy saved vrs HID always bruh.

The cost of dealing with the heat of 6 lights is exactly 6 times the cost of dealing with one. A bigger garden isn't proportionately more or less expensive to cool so it's irrelevant.
