High humidity

Dwc, single 5 gallon buckets. 10 days in flowering. Grown in my basement in Michigan, medical marijuana. General hydroponics Flora trio. Way too high humidity though. Any ways to decrease humidity in my room in my basement? I know obviously a dehumidifier but no funds so any other ways til I get funds to get a good basement dehumidifier on Amazon? Help please.

You could try something like this. Never used one so I don;t know how well they work, but they're pretty cheap.

Might I suggest the stuff you find in shoe boxes: Silica Gel.

I am not sure about the avaialbility of it in the States, but it is a pretty innocuous product, with 2.5kg of it setting you back about £6 in the UK. You can slug it around in trays and I'd also suggest having pots of it near your ventilation, since the moisture will be carried around in the air currents. If you get a little handy with it, you can effectively use silica gel as a desiccant scrubber for your vents.

I have used silica gel in the past to regulate humidity to good effect as a low cost non invasive solution.

*I should also mention that 2.5kg of that in your grow area would likely make it drier than a nuns muff...

I borrowed a dehumidifier from my grandpa and it's dropping the humidity in my grow room already. When I get it between 40 and 50 percent in my room I plan to use it in my basement then also to decrease humidity in my house. It's raising temps in my room allot though. I just don't want my water temps too high cuz I already battle root rot at the beginning. Don't want to deal with that bullshit again

I got super lucky and found a used Frigidaire 55L dehuey, at my local St. Vincent De Paul thrift store, for a cool $35....
I know all too well the perpetual battle for balanced conditions in a MI Basement....
All winter, cant keep the RH up, the Spring swing wreaks havoc on balancing the VPD, then the 4 weeks of HOT HUMID summer ballooning the temps from dehuyer blowback, then the wild Autumn swings begin...
As soon as it gets dialed in, its time to start adjusting.

You know all the struggles. Lol. I did notice crappy low humidity during winter. And I noticed the crazy change I'm high humidity after the snow melted and it got nice out. I'm learning these things as I go. First run was in middle of winter in my freezing attic. Bad choice. Somehow pulled 2 ounces a plant up there with Lucas Formula and no ppm or ec meter. Tested ph with strips and tried to control ph some what. But this run is much better. Working with ro water Vs tap last time also. Invested over a grand into it at the beginning of this 2nd run. First run was years ago. Learning so much. Shit cost lots of money to make it to the finish line. Lots of work too and sometimes can be a pain in the ass. I've ran into all kinds of problems since I started, pythium aka root rot was the worst in Dwc. So many headaches and took weeks to finally fix. Lost some plants and thought I was gonna lose them all. Stressful when you put your all into something and it starts failing right off the bat. Lol and I'm sure I'll run into more problems as I go. Grateful for this site the and the kick ass people on here for all the support and help and feedback. Great site. Fast response times from the community. I love learning all I can

I'm gonna have to check my local stores too for a used dehumidifier. Can't use my grandpas forever. That's a good idea. Thanks for the idea Chip Green. I have some stores like that around here I can look at too

Humidity is finally 57 percent in my room today. Much better than the 80 percent before that could of caused problems for me. 2 weeks, 1 day into flowering now, 6 to 8 more weeks to go depending on how long they take.
