Shitty AFN banned me...

... because I said one of their vendor has old tech COBs (1812 Citizens) which is not the most efficient and new chip. When I said I have better boards and strips which are up to 220 lm/w, they said I will get banned if I told again that. You know, I must tell that second time...

Shitty forum is shitty forum, too much bussiness there and too little honest people. You can talk about tech if you pay them to become vendor.

Dumbasses, and forum should be democratic, they said...

Old tech or what ever ya wanna call it,BigSchmoe grows some nice plants with them 1812's.
For sure, even house bulbs will grow plants.

But we are talking about other aspects here, like efficiency, PPF, watts, coverage...

Citi 1812 are better than boards really. Cheaper and will give you better uniformity since you have more of them. You can easily get the same efficacy when run at the appropriate current. Run an 1812 or even better, the 1212, at 25W and they are very comparable to 25W strips in efficiency and price.

There are no strips or boards which can be run economically viable at 220lm/W. It's more like 170lm/W which is the norm now.

Get some quantum board 120's. Six of them at 50 watts a piece will smoke a 3x3. You can spread the photons from multiple angles. No heat sinks required !!!

Didn't citizen just release a new version? U may like boards better but that doesn't mean cobs are 'old tech'. I use both cobs and strips and there are benefits to each form. Cobs definitely have better spectrum options available. That said, i agree i don't like the mad commercialization gone on over there, it's driving people away.

What is the issue?

Some things perform better than others. No biggie.
That I said. And get banned.

Ah cmonn... You can get the same number of strips as 1812... Strips deliver much more uniform coverage. Also they don't need 20€ heatsinks per COB...

1812s are gen 6, a current model

cant comment on AFN but it seems your info is incorrect

theres nothing a board can do that a cob cant if run soft enough
1812 gen6 at 1050 mA is 155 LPW, 3000K 80 CRI, Tc 45°C.
F strips at the same numbers are 175 LPW.
Both are 45-50V light sources.

QB V2 are around 185 LPW I think.

just a cursory look the 46W F strips are 168 lm/W but at twice the price...

both have their applications, neither is obsolete

by your metric vero D would be obsolete because vero C is more efficient. and vero C would be obsolete because citi 1825 is more efficient, etc.

Compare at the same current and temperature, Cobby. Like I do at the post above.
560mm strips are 15$, 1120mm strips are 28$.
1812 is 24$ so in between.
Let's say you spend 500$ on lights, which one will deliver you better penetration and coverage? Strips, no doubt.

Vero D and C are even better than 1812. But why you changed now from 1812 to Veros anyway? And yes 1825 at the same numbers is efficient than 1812.

COB's don't need dedicated a heat sink either. You could put them on a U channel too.

But you said boards were better and they are not. I'll agree strips are better than COBs, but not by that much either. COBs and strips both work just fine. Strips can be a nuisance in some situations too. Try to fill a 3x3 tent with 2' or 4' strips.

I just made a 170lm/W COB fixture from my 2015 Cree COBs. 4 strips with 6 COBs each. It's just a matter of running them low.

Those are single row strips. You need two of them to compare to a single 1812.
